Hey guys. I picked up my Warwick Corvette 'Hot Rod' 5 string today. The whole way to the shop I was shaking cause I was so excited to pick it up! It's my first new bass in 4 years.
So I picked her up from Billy Hyde, came home and played it for the first time as 100% mine! And boy is she a dream!
The set-up they did for me was awesome. The action was a little high, but nothing a few quick turns with an allan key couldn't fix.
So now, here is some pictures of this sexy beast! Oh, and I apologise in advance if some of the pictures are blurry, but I didn't have my good camera with me.

there are few feelings in this world that compare to the feeling you get the day of getting a new bass/guitar.

Very nice. So it looks like you talked them into throwing in one of the guitar racks?
Well, nearly. I got a Gator vintage case for half price and they took 30% off of that rack for me.
That's bass looks so sexy. How much was it?
It came to AU$3380 for the bass. It was marked down from $4000.
I think I would have gone for the bongo, but that is damn nice.
Well it was a very tough decision, but the reason I picked the Hot Rod is because it is limited edition, and in 3 months time, it won't be around, where as the Bongo will be. And I loved the Bongo so much, I am going to buy one within the next 6 months. I'll work for 4 weeks and have enough money for it, so if I'm really GASing for it, I might buy it then.

Haha, this bass is very comfortable to tap on. That is probably why most of the pics is of me tapping. If I was on my J bass, I'd be slapping in every pic.
And maybe I was showing off just a bit :p

I don't think I like all blonde basses, it looks a little pasty for my liking, that added to the thin soapbars and black hardware (should be chrome) means it's not for me.
However - I have played one, and they sound superb :thumb:.

Yea, the J needs lots of work, just something I haven't gotten around to doing. I'm going to defret it anyway, so when I take it in to be done, they'll do a full set-up for me anyway.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the Hot Rod models were a P+P configuration....... or is it that on the 5 and 6 string versions they just give you two soapbars with a P winding?

Thanks for the kind words guys. I must admit, it sure is a sexy animal! I just have to name her now . . .
Just so you guys know, Australia gets ripped off in musical instruments. So if the RRP was $4000, that doesn't necessarily mean that it will be $3000 or so in the US. I think $2000 sounds right.
To whoever asked what I do, I work for the Royal Australian Air Force painting planes. Well, not actually for the RAAF. I work for TAE, but their painting hangar is in the RAAF base.
I'll do a review when I've had the bass long enough to do a proper one. If I did one now, everything would be 5/5 cause I'm so in love with it.
Sweet, get to paint some FA-18s?

Hehe, na not FA-18's. We get to commercial planes for Air New Zealand and others, so things like 767's and stuff. At the moment we're doing a Fokker 100. We also do Hercules', a few other military planes and from what I've heard, Black Hawk's.
I've only been here for a week though, so I don't know heaps. All I know is that if you get that yellow paint stripper on your skin, it burns like a bitch!
Happened so many times today! Oh, and aluminium tape is very sharp.
But there is something very cool about standing on top of the tail of a plane, or walking all over a wing. Not many people have done stuff like that before.

I'll post some sound clips when I've gotten completely used to it.
Unfortunately, because of my work, the tips of my fingers are all cut up, and it hurts to play. I'm still playing every day, but I can only manage to play for about 10 minutes at a time. Which isn't good.
And I'm finding it hard to find some complicated 5 string songs to learn. I'm not too interested in much metal. I'm trying to find some songs which will really challenge me.
Any suggestions?
