OK, Im in a reggae-ish band and we need some effects on our vocals. One of our guitarists has a multi effects pedal that he doesnt use anymore (DigiTech RP300A) and i was wondering if it was posible to run vocals through it. We have tried it but most of the effects just produce a bunch of feedback noise. I spoke with a guy from another band around here and he said he does it with some other box thing in addition to the effect pedal. Im not sure what he was talking about hah. If anyone has any ideas, suggestions or can explain any of this to me it would be very helpful.
thanks

Yea totally able to do that. I know Cedric from the Mars Volta, back in his AT the Drive-In days would have like a little thing set up with a mic running through a bunch of stomp boxes and worked very kickass.
As for the feedback, just keep the mic away from the speaker and turn the gain down. With alot of the effects on those guitar multi-effects 80% of the effects have distorion, which will give you the feedback, so just turn it off, or turn down the gain like I said previously.

Are you using the presets or tweaking your own? That's important.
If you're tweaking your own settings, try the following:
Get a passive DI box, so you can convert impedences both ways. Get the appropriate cables, so that you're using guitar cables into the Digitech unit. See if that works any better. The entire investment should be less than $50.
