OK! Soo basically, i have an e-kit (as some of you may now know, from the MXDP Solo Comp.) and i would really love to start building an acoustic kit so that i'll have one for when i start gigging, and also just because i actually prefer acoustic over electric.

Soo, how should i go about this? Which drums/cymbals should i buy first? How do you buy single pieces without spending agajillion dollars on customness?

I'm not REALLY on a tight budget or anything, because this is going to span over a couple of years i'd say, and i do actually have a (fairly) constant cash flow coming in, because i work weekends, occasionally.

"IF" you can afford it maybe buy a custom kit or buy Keller shells and do it your self?

if ur price budget isn't too tight i would look at mapex Pro M, and if u can go higher than that then mapex Saturns. if u want a custom kit, i suggest Conaway because they have the best custom kit prices. as for cymbals, u do a few things, either buy a starter pack(i recommend sabian pro sonix or paiste PST5) or u can buy up cymbals individually. if u choose the latter, look in to hats first, then a ride then crash/crashes, then effects. i would look at sabian stuff especially AA, AAX and HHX(AA and AAX being at amazing prices). if u are in the US, all of this should definatly be done through www.massmusic.net

well, if you had all the stuff to drill the holes and stuff, then you could order sumthin like keller shells, drill the holes, get the hardware and lugs and stuff, finish it like a stain (or wrap, jsut more money) and then puit all the hardware on

it would be a pretty hard project and would take some time.
If it were me, I personally wouldnt like the idea of me drilling the holes and such.

I suggest you save up with the money you get for working weekends and buy either a Pro M or a Sonor 3005. Then You can go and buy cymbals one buy one from there.

if u just get a good set like a pro M/saturn or a 3005 u won't really need a new snare, the one that comes with will be fine. if u do, however, want a seperate snare look into black panthers, pearl does some good snare(the sensitones are prety good metal snares, they have some good signature snare, and i hear good things about the free floating snares) Tama artwood snares are great, and there are usually some good snares kickin' around ebay, there are usually some good DW ones there.
