Hi y'all!!
Was just wondering... what books do you guys use for development and learning? I have stick controll as many people here have raved about it!!
I've also heard people talk about New Breed and Creative Control.
Can you tell me if you have used these books, have they helped? What do each focus on?
Many Thanks :chug:

I use stick control and new breed. Both great books. Stick control focuses on rudimental drumming while new breed on independence of your limbs. You gain a lot when studying from those books like control, speed, time, creativity...

Those books are excellent, some of, if not, the best there are.
That dvd is a circus act... taking the words 'absurd ' and 'drumming' to new levels of mixed pleasure.

Why would they said that?!
They thought rudiments were evil. Back then people did all sorts of crazy things...

Stick Control is a fantastic book.
I've also heard great things about New Breed, It's currently in the post to me :)
Another great book that I've used a fair bit, it's also in the post (I borrowed it from my teacher for a while), is Modern Reading Texts in 4/4 by Louie Bellson. I used it to improve my timing and sight reading. It also gave me a lot of new ideas for fills etc. There is also another book by Louie Bellson called something like 'Odd time signatures' It's basically the same as Modern Reading Texts but in many other time signatures.

I have stick control and the new breed.
Currently working on the new breed, once in a while I practice with stick control.
Any book(-dvd would be much nicer) explaining the best grip and technique?
For expample something that explains why moeller is better than the gladstone technique or opposite.
Once you choose your main technique (however develop and otherones for diff use) you can get down and with stick control (which you can practice with millions of ideas) and the new bread.
However which one is the book or dvd thats clears out the arguement about techniques and reveals the secrets that pros hide from us?

If you are a drummer, this book should be your Bible. It basically has an unlimited number of exercises in it.
