Really the top of the line drumsets now, Yamaha has yet again raised the bar in drum building. There are so many reasons...

Of course it's up to the sound you are looking for. Maybe the Yamaha sound is not what is most pleasing to your ears, maybe you want a big more boomy sound.. such as DW's, or a more tuby sound such as Pearls.

The sound is incredible, the quality is unsurpassed. Yamaha is simply the best.. no marketing frills, no gimiicky crap, just solid designs (like YESS), excellent drums and some of the best service in the world.

thank you josiah. Since you described the sound of DW and Pearl in a nutshell, can you describe the sounds of the Yamaha Maple kit im looking at? Right now I have a pearl masters brx kit but im really not happy with it at all. It might be the whole birch thing. idk

The Absolute maple is a great kit. A warm sound as far as I know, I havn't spent a lot of time playing them but they definitly look amazing. Also yamahas hardware is really quite somthing. The nouveau lugs are really cool, along with the YESS system being one of the best mounting systems out.

Well I have a Birch Custom Absolute nouveau kit.For a long time I was not happy with the sound, even the sound of the kit was getting better and better day after day. When I got in my band's place wich is sound proof, I couldn't believe my ears.I thought that you could only get that sound with the use of mic.As far for the Hardware of the shell, is worth every penny.
The rest of the hardware is amazing, I reallized it from the first day.Just read this.I have my double pedal from the first day I bought the kit(less 2 years ago) and I haven' t found a good lubricate oil to apply to my pedal. Most pedals of the market would have failed, but mine is as smouth as the first day.

The maple kit will also sound very very good, but a little brighter that birch. It's up to you.

its a little pricy but a great kit for professionals. I have the same kit that they play at church and its really good and the bass is really deep-sounded..
Overall,its an awesome kit

The kit has an excelent warm attack that isnt too boomy or too tubby. They really are some great sounding kits.

I didn't lube my Sonor 1001 pedals when I got them for years... even a pedal as basic as that has held up. You don't need Iron Cobras or 5000s for your hardware to keep up to par...

The only thing Yamaha could do, but doesn't, is use the higher threadpitch tuning rods. Though cheap enough to retro so it's not that big of an issue.

Also the wood hoops, ya gotta love that. Combined with the carbon lugs... you are looking at not only some of the highest quality drums built. BUT, in that configuration some of the lightest too. Making for just an incredible drum sound.. incredible.

ive got a yamaha stage custom and its really good....everything goes where i want it to go (hardware) and (unlike some kits) the bass is really good and u dont need a microphone to have the same amount of sound as the rest of the kit
