alright guys...i'm extremely new to recording, however i have a bit of knowledge about the software, and i acquired a copy of cubase SX3. It's rough, dunno what i'm doing quite yet, but i can't experiment until i figure out how to get the music recorded onto my computer! What do i need to record it, and what do you recomend? I'm not looking to spend a lot of money and if it's a mixer of some sort, i'm only going to need a few channels. thanks.

Well, that honestly depends on what your trying to do.

If your a solo artist relying on layering (which sadly is what Im forced to do as the only reliable member of my band, luckily I wrote most of their parts), I have a Tascam US-122 and a cheap mic, and it handles itself just fine. Heres some stuff Ive recorded on it:
