View Full Version : 20'' or 22'?
I was a L&M today and I was trying some of there cymbals and I tried a 20'' K dark Ride and then a 22'' HHX Manhattan ride and It was overly HUGE. But I was wondering if there is a need for 22' of metal?

Neither imo, but if I had to, hmmm, I would go with the 20" K dark ride.

id use the 22 as a killing weapon, throwing it around slicing peoples throats with it...id think thats cool.

Different people like different sounds. Neil Peart's signature ride is 22"... There are people who use 24" rides. It's all about the sound!

Don't see what's so big about a 22" myself. And is there a need? That's possibly one of the strangest questions I've ever heard. I don't really know how to answer that. Certainly a different sized version will produce a different sound, thereby increasing your options.

I use a 22" A Ping ride. It gives you a deeper tone, a drier wash, and more articulation... I don't see how it sounds overly huge. Play with some stack amps... you'll see.

As do I, and it's one of the most amazing rides I have heard. 22" rides are great. After you use it for some time and get it broken in, like all cymbals, those big rides can sound unbelievable.

my ultimate ride is a 22" A Ping, or maybe a 22" K Heavy

For rides...the best ones are these...(IMO)
20" Zildjian K Heavy Ride
21" Zildjian A Sweet Ride
22" Sabian Paragon Ride
All great rides, just choose a size and you got one...

indeed those rides are awesome. Same with the 21 raw bell dry ride, the AA version of course. I like it better than the HH.

I plan on picking up a 21" A Sweet, and then probably a dark 22" later. The Sweets are just so crashable and versatile. I find that on average I dislike 20" rides a lot more than 21" or 22".

Are you from Nashville?
Anyways, I think you should get a 27.5 inch ride ( I've seen it before ). Nah, get a 20" K Heavy Ride. I love mine! 22"s are good too, that'll be my next ride, but I like 20" better.
