anyone had any experiences using an ampeg SVT-DI in the effects loop of a solid state amp using the DI's "through" 1/4 output? does only 1 12AX7 make much of a difference in the sound? anyone have any thoughts or oppinions on this?

Well first-off, it would seem to me that the "through" output would be the unaffected, and therefore not have any effect on your tone. That being said, if it is in fact the affected side, then I highly doubt it would make much difference in your tone. It should be set for flat frequency response, and like you said, its only a single 12AX7. I wouldn't expect much.

it has 2 separate buttons for the line to the mixing board and for the through that can make either unaffected or go throught the tube.

^^^all the same, going through a single 12AX7 with no other tone altering circuit would not likely provide any noticeably difference... just an assumption though, I've never tried that particular device. There are other tube DI's on the market you could use as a comparison though.

Well, if you're looking for something to alter your tone I really think you should focus on an additional preamp instead of a DI
