Alright. My buddy and I just finished up with a different project and decided to start something new. Again. This is what we came up with. We had been doing much heavier stuff before this, but decided to calm things down a little to suit the vocals a little better. The most packed board I've seen with the deadest crit sections. Oinywhoo... here.
Let me know.

:thumb: This is REALLY good. I liked the song, lyrics, and the awesome quality. The vocals were pretty solid too. Where did you record it? and how old are you guys?
But really this is song is awesome.
P.S: You already crit my song...lol

Great song, I really like the piano and the bass. I'm not a fan of the vocals, but I think that's just me. My band's stuff is about halfway down the page, check it out if you've got time.
edit:my band's called Velvet Goldmine

Ok yeah, i thought this song is pretty good. All of the instruments were really good. However....i think the vocals need to be worked on. They arent horrible or anything, i just think they could be alot better, and i think if you worked on them, they could be better. Other than the vocals you have a nice thing going. Nice bass, nice piano. Keep up the good work.
My bands name is The Kiwibirds, and we should be somewhere on the front page if you could throw a crit our way. I would really appreciate it.

Hey man,
I can definitely hear the heavier influences, even though it's a lighter song.
I agree with the others in that it's a good song, but there is something about the vocals. You hit the right notes, but there are instances where it is a bit off. But the recording is good, and I like the whole structure of the song.

Cool, guys! Thanks for checking this stuff out! We have gotten tons of similar comments on the vocals, but they loved us in Australia, Malaysia, Italy and a few other places overseas, so we're in a bit of a bind. We'll never make it big in the US, so who do we listen to?
Hmm... Also, can you offer some specifics on the vocals? We keep hearing, "They really aren't my thing", but no body ever offers any solutions. Without knowing what's bothering you, we'll just have to think that it's a stylistic preference that is keeping people from diggin' 'em. If we could get some specifics, we may be able to do something about them. All the notes are right, and the vocal technique is outstanding, (he was a vocal performance major) not sure what the other problems would be.
Thanks again!

Thanks, man.
We're 30. We're really old. And we recorded it in the lead singer/songwriter's spare bedroom on Sonar and a Roland VS 18-80 and a ton of compressors and other techy mumbo-jumbo that I need not to concern myself with.
Thanks, dude!

I found no problems with the vocals myself, and I'm a vocalist lol so I'm supposed to be bitching about it. haha... Maybe they were a bit shaky at the start of the song but they were great later....

Nice song man! I really like the atmosphere in this song.
The only thing i don't really like are the vocals wich are a bit to weak IMO, maybe singing more like Geoff Tate would be nice in this song.. :thumb:

The guy has a great voice, but in this particular song it sounds like the vocals are piled on a little thick in some areas. Operatic, almost. I enjoyed the vocals in the first minute or so, but after that it's a little too much, like around 2:36.
Are you familiar with the band Black Tape for a Blue Girl? They have like a goth / darkwave kind of sound, and the singer really reminded me of that group.
Anyway, it's pretty good. I liked the piano the most. :)
EDIT: You know what, it's growing on me. I'd just chalk it up as stylistic preference at this point.

Very cool man, I like it a lot. The vocals are very good, sounds like he's definately very skilled. The instrumentation is great, and I really dig the breakdown/buildup part. Great overall, I'd love to hear more from you guys.
