View Full Version : Anyone interested in Finger Picking Blues?
Ah well another time and another place - oh and another forum maybe. This music is for old guys not for here.

I'm going to get everyone in the whole wide world to practice with a metronome, if it's the last thing I do.
You mean my timing is out or something? Could be right. Definitely needs to be played smoother for sure. Not that far off though I don't think.

The idea of blues is timing. It's dragging the beat to make you feel it a bit harder. You have the emphasis, it's just a little too scattered to make me feel it. Metronomes can solve the world's problems.
I do have a metronome infact but I have never used it. I just listen to recordings and play along with them. I notice that after tons of practise the timing improves, but you are right as it is about the last thing that seems to appear before the song sounds real bluesy. Just that subtle timing difference. Could try and use a metronome but as these are songs based on old recordings I am not sure playing them rigidly to a metronome is the answer. Think it might be down to tons more practise until the proper feel for the song appears though I am willing to try a metronome. Suppose it boils down to pure practise at the end of the day.

Nice to see someone playing the blues.(Its better than that metal crap usually posted) Just get the timing and rythym down, and youll have a nice tune going.
I don't have anything nice to say about this post.
