I play bass in a band called Velvet Goldmine, I was hoping for some critiques of our stuff, www.myspace.com/velvetgoldmine0. I was wondering who or what we sound like. And what do you think of the rythm guitar?

Thanks,
Alex

Hey, dude. Not really a fan of the vocals. Or the lyrics. Some cool ideas on Cold Water, but they've been done to death. The drummer is doing his best, but it sounds like he is outplaying his skill on fills and stuff. If he would calm down a little and play some tastey stuff instead of top speed all the time, I think it would help out a little. What did you record the drums/guitars with?

The bass sound pretty good, though. It's nice to hear a little emellishment in the bass from time to time that doesn't sound all masturbatory and obnoxious.

They rythm guitarist, like the entire world, needs to either practice more with a metronome, or needs to do a few more takes in the studio and not be satisfied with slop. Are you recording live or sectionals, or piece by piece?

Thanks for the listen.

we're recording live. That was the most in depth review/crit I've ever gotten here, thanks a lot.

Thursday- Sweet drum intro, guitars have a nice feel, they get annoying after awhile though. Vocals are a little like talking, and there isn't too much singing...and when there is, it's not great. The orginization of the song isn't great. I don't know, not much really contained in the song. It seems like you guys are trying to avoid adding some beef to the whole song. :-/
