I'm thinkin' about getting an Ibanez, any suggestions? I don't really want to opt out 2000$ and this will be my second guitar. So, under a $1000 please.

Hmm.

RG1570

You could save up and go to ibanezrules, and buy a used JEM. They're amazing :)

I read this:

I don't want a good guitar. I want to be a cheapass and settle for a blah guitar that I'll regret getting later.

JonG - don't disregard StormX's comment - I kinda was in the same situation. I didn't want to spend too much, I was thinking of getting an RG prestige. In the end, I got a JEM and I couldn't be happier.

That's good :)

But, I'd never buy an RG1570 and regret it. I love it.

I wasn't talking about your suggestions at all. I'm simply telling him that the more money he spends the better guitar he'll get and the happier he'll be.

I was mis-reading your reply then. I thought you were putting Ibanez down.

GAH! Never!

I was just saying for him to not limit his price to under a grand. Very high end Ibanez FTW!

I got my JEM for under a grand

Well, pounds. Not sure if the RRP's are exactly the same. Probably not.

But yeah - who could put Ibanez down? NO-ONE!

JonG

You probably got it for a little over 1,000.

Which model again? DBK? Or 7WVH?

The_Mop
03-07-2006, 05:39 PM
DBK.

And it was £975 exactly. It's not like i bought it ages ago and I've forgotten....It was reduced because it was quite old, and then we haggled :D

If I play it and it feels right, price dosn't matter. I just didn't know where to really start.

 Yeah, probably for idiots who don't know how to shop around.

To the OP: Have you thought of buying used? You can get some great deals for under $1000. And if you don't HAVE to buy Ibanez RG1570, you can get a Yamaha RGX420 for less than half the price. Same quality, just less because you're not paying for the name on the headstock.

You're definatly not gonna get the feel of an Ibanez with a Yamaha. The neck is the main thing that does it for me when it comes to Ibanez, I don't know anyone (aside from Jackson) who have come close.

And plus - the lower end RG's aren't that bad either. The only brands you really pay for the price for the name is bloody Gibson.

So, would you guys say that Jackson rivals Ibanez in terms of quality and sheer badassery, or does Ibanez pretty much force feed Jackson it's dust? I never hear much about Jackson, while I always hear praise for Ibanez, so I'm just wondering where Jackson stacks amongst the competition.

Akeh

It's just preference. I prefer Jacksons myself.

Sph

I find Jacksons a hell of alot better than Ibanez. When it comes to quality, Jackson knows what they're doing.

I dunno... I've played some dud Jacksons in the past, but a good Jackson is like your fingers having multiple orgasms.

Mr. Badguy
03-08-2006, 09:45 AM
Awesome, because I've really been thinking hard about buying a Jackson! :-D
Would you guys recommend any Jacksons in particular? I'm looking to spend around a little less than a grand...maybe around 700 bucks. I'm thinking about a Rhoads Pro at the moment, but I'm still shopping around. I've heard the Dinky's are pretty good, though.

StormX

700 bucks for a Jackson?

Get the DK2S, that thing is the best guitar I've ever played.

Of course, the only store that had it sold it the day before I went to buy it.

Mr. Badguy
03-08-2006, 12:02 PM
Youch! I've been there. Mostly with video games, though. Did you have to order the guitar online after that?

StormX
03-08-2006, 12:16 PM
Nah, I ended up getting my Cort instead that day.

Mr. Badguy
03-08-2006, 12:28 PM
And I take it that you still liked the Jackson better?

StormX

I'm quite happy with my Cort. The only way the Jackson is better than it is the Sustaniac pickup.

euhm i bought a Ibanez gio GRG 170 GX for 420€ and i'm happy with it. it sounds great with my amp (roland cube 60).

I was playing around with a J1000 today and I gotta hand it to Ibanez, they've done a great job. It's a very "mobile" guitar, being very light and still delivering a lot of tone, I'd imagine it's not hard to go crazy on the stage with that guitar.

TheColdNovRain89
03-08-2006, 07:09 PM
i personally dont like jackson. they have a feel too them i dont like and the tone and playabilty dont match with eith other for me. ive played 1000$ jacksons and like my rg350 way better

hades2
03-08-2006, 10:15 PM
Oi, Ibanez whores :p

I just saw the RG350EX (the white one) and I've never seen such a nice looking guitar. I absolutely love the way it looks, but then it costs next to nothing. Does that mean it sucks balls? Not that I'm getting one, but its still hard to compromise between looks and playability nowadays.

Mr. Badguy
03-08-2006, 10:33 PM
So, Ibanez has more tonal range than Jackson?

Geeze, I can't seem to find the specs or price for the DK2S anywhere. Do you guys know of any online places that might sell 'em?
