need fake book advice

I am a beginner w/ the guitar and piano (although I can play melody and chord ... very slowly) .
I 'd like to know:

1. which are the best fake book authors ( you know the ones that has music arrangements that make the songs still sound good when you only play the chords. )
2. the fake books that people use for beginner .
