So I downloaded a couple of Sonic Youth songs the other day. And I was just wanting to know which album is their best. I looked, and their is to many to choose from... If I would have to pick, I would choose Daydream Nation probably.
I just need some opinions...
Thanks

Daydream Nation is as good a place to start as any. Maybe Sister or Evol too.
There's already a Sonic Youth thread on the second page, so try that for recommendations:

Start with Dirty, it's the easiest Sonic Youth album to get into.

Well I've heard some of their songs already. So I am pretty use to what their music is all about.
I'm just not made out of money, and I just want a Sonic Youth album I can really sink my teeth into.

Daydream Nation. It takes some time to grow on you, but it's probably their best album.

I'd say Sister is actually the easiest album to get started with, even though Daydream Nation may be better afterwards.

I have Evol, Sister, Daydream Nation, Washing Machine, and I'm just buying Goo (which might be a mistake, but who knows.)
Any of the four mentioned above I can attest to the their greatness. However, Daydream Nation is probably their best one with Sister a close second.

Daydream Nation. I liked Sonic Nurse too, but I dunno, I might be in the minority there. :)
That you are not, Sonic Nurse was good.

Bad Moon rising is hard to get into, but it is real good when you do. Sister is their best though.

daydream nation displays their ability best. however, it does not really seem to specialize in one area. so it'd be the best to start with to show what the band is capable of, but then eventually you'll have to move away from it.
if you want chaotic noise punk stuff, get Confusion is Sex or Badmoon Rising.
for more dancey, upbeat punk, get Goo.
for a more melodic, weird, kinda punky sound get Sister.
for their grungier early 90's rock sound, get Dirty.
for a really dark, quiet CD get Experimental Jet Set Trash and No Star.
for a really dramatic, softer/nicer, extremely melody driven CD, get Sonic Nurse.
of course there are others, but i've found these to really show what SY can do.

What would you recommend off of Sonic Nurse?
song-wise?
my favorite off of it is "Unmade Bed". it's my favorite SY song in general.
other highlights off that CD are Dripping Dream, Stones, and I Love You Golden Blue (i looooove that one as well. they opened with it when i saw them live in september, and i think that it was my favorite individual song i've heard played live, ever).
