This band should be more loved on these forums. Some people say that they sound like Husker Du (they were from the same time period), but in my opinion they pwn Husker Du. Paul Westerberg has one of the best rock n' roll voices i have ever heard.

I recommend that everyone checks out the album 'Let it Be' (no relation the beatles), it's probably the best place to start.

I've heard they're good, but have yet to hear them.

Yeah, they're boss.

Get soulseek, EightMiles.

Let It Be's often credited as their best but I'll take Tim over it any day. Great snotty alcohol drenched rock.

I only have Pleased to Meet Me. It's pretty good I like "I.O.U." and "Alex Chilton" the best, if I'm remembering songs to names properly.

Tim is probably their most consistent release, but Let it Be has a couple of great songs and Peter Buck

Husker Du and the Replacements sound nothing alike...I think the only reason they're compared is because they're from the same area and time period.

Honestly, I think the Replacements sound really same-ish.

I second both of these.

Paul Westerberg is my favorite lyricist. As I've stated often, I don't particularly care what the lyrics are in most songs, as long as the singer is good. But "Bastards of Young" is so damn poignant that I just have to give it up for this guy.

I have Let It Be and find it a bit inconsistent at times. The ballads aren't my favorite songs; I actually prefer "Favorite Thing" and "I Will Dare" over "Androgynous" and "Unsatisfied."

I'm pretty sure they were almost "rivals" during their careers, both coming out of Minnesota, signing to major labels around the same time, etc.

Both are good, solid bands though.

Same. Except "Answering Machine" blows everything out of the water.

Actually I still like "Favorite Thing" better, but it's very possible that will change. Too bad "Bastards of Young" will always be my favorite, I'm certain.

I agree with your first post YD, but I think the ballads are super as well.

I have Let it Be and Tim and they're both pretty awesome. Probably lean more towards Let It Be though, a solid album.

I've only heard Tim, and it didn't really sink in. Maybe I'll give it another listen.

I'm a Let it Be fan. While Tim is more consistent throughout, LiB has quite a few of the absolute best songs of the 80s. One of my all-time favorite albums.

I'm one of the few fans of "Seen Your Video." Yeah, the lyrics are outdated, but damn if that isn't melody.

However, their best song is "If only you were lonely" on Boink

'I Will Dare' basically changed my life.

Basically.
