maybe those are just the US dates though

Well there'll probably be a Toronto date some time after the NY date but it might be a one off thing.
I might go to that Charlotte show, though the supporting bands are terrible.

All those other bands bar Whitechapel are pretty bad.
But I'm not all that fond of Whitechapel either.
Really cant wait till they hit up these shores later in the year.

That's what Protest The Hero sounds like...Music from the soundtrack of a Gay Pörn. Just needs a few organ sweeps here and there and they'd have a decent second income.

That's the ticket right there. Spot on. And, Coke is a Troll baiter. He likes to antagonize folk to achieve a desired response. And, since I'm the Master to his being a Troll Baiter. I'm a Master troll Baiter. And, this band is still awfully gay. They should have a mass orgy with Drangonforce. That would be sso, sso, ssspecial and ssspttexy even! With a big gay lisp.

I'm really enjoying Fortess. I felt the need to listen to them because they're from my hometown and the bassist went to the same highschool as me. I never really had interest before because I remember hearing them long before Kezia came out and thinking "this sucks". They've really come a long way.
Cocaine
08-04-2008, 12:21 PM
Well I could see you not liking them before Kezia, they were a more or less totally different band. I still love a lot of that stuff though.

they remind more of a punk band before kezia, but thats just my opinion
Cocaine
08-04-2008, 12:26 PM
they were a punk band before Kezia. Well, the pre-ACUoS stuff was like punk/hardcore but ACUoS is basically post-hardcore with Iron Maiden and Judas Priest influences.
i thought of them as a noodly punk band when "a calculated use of sound" came out

Dmitri is the best thing they've ever written but there's a lot of really solid stuff pre-Kezia. Silent Genocide, Asperity of Sin, there's a lot worth looking for.

It's terrible, I would say torrent it only if you want to hear for yourself but then delete the files immediately afterwards because they aren't worth the space they take up on your hard drive.

I know they do it live for Limb From Limb but still
Cocaine
08-06-2008, 11:36 PM
It's at the end of Palms Read so it can work into the minus time to blend into the next song. It's Limb from Limb. Officially known as Limb from Limb Pt.1.
Well I'm not in a position to argue about it, I just always called it the weird extended outro of Palms Read.
that sucks that it probably wont be in the video then
Cocaine
08-06-2008, 11:39 PM
You're not in a position to argue because it's Limb from Limb Pt. 1 and not apart of Palms Read. But it could still be included in the video, you never know. Bands mix other songs into their videos all the time. Still, I wouldn't expect much fro this video, they're doing it in their short off time from touring. Last time that happened we ended up with Divine Suicide of K.
Yeah, I said I wasn't in a position, thanks for repeating that.
And the Divine music video wasn't awful...it was definitely the worst of the three though.
Cocaine
08-06-2008, 11:42 PM
It was awful, man. Vampires and scene girls and low-cut shirts. But they had nothing to do with it so I cant exactly make fun of them for it.
Wait. Yes I can. It was horribly gay.
The Heretics and Killers video was by far my favorite, even though it's probably my least favorite song on the album.

Because they're on Vagrant, and because before they shook it up their management threw them on the scene-iest tours they could to make money (because scene kids will buy anything). Their tours are getting progressively better; I'll take Unearth over Silverstein any day of the week.

Ok so I've decided that Blindfold's Aside is my favorite song. ever. the climax sends chills down my spine.
Also, what Protest song would be good for learning on guitar. I am good, but not quite Protest good. I can play all of The Dissentience and some of Nautical, Limb from Limb, and Heretics and Killers, but the rest are ****ing hard. plus, I want to be able to play the song through. I'm leaning towards Blood Meat. Suggestions?
Protest the hero have like 300 riffs per song but none of them sound like they took more than a minute to come up with. Just saying.
beans
08-19-2008, 10:02 PM
some of the riffs are insanely difficult man
idk what you're talking about
Difficult to come up with is not the same as difficult to play. I know they're difficult to play but they don't sound to me like they put very much thought into writing them. Just sayings.

Probably.
I think their riffs are actually more difficult to write than to play. A lot of them are just really cleverly written and not nearly as hard to play as they sound.
I dunno man, plenty of my friends who have been playing guitar for years say that most of the stuff on Fortress is incredibly challenging.

I got my brother in law/guitarist into PtH! He didn't like Kezia as much cause of the vocals, but he loves Fortress. This is cool, maybe he'll write some stuff influenced by this.

Kezia is so much better than Fortress. I loved Fortress, too, it was all i ever listened to for like 3 months straight. But now in perspective it seems like a forced entry into cheesy wank-metal, imo tbqh bbq.

Fortress feels a lot better than Kezia to me. I haven't listened to it as much, though. Maybe it's the better production on Fortress that makes me like it so much more.
IMO both albums are equally awesome. I really can't pick a favourite.

I don't think I could choose a favourite, I find it pretty hard to compare them.
I think I listen to Kezia more often.

They were awesome live but I never got hugely into their music. They were pretty fake, ideologically, so I never took it for more than fun music to scream along to live.
ah, i only know them through albums so i wouldnt know that. kinda sucks if they are, pretty much why i can't stand Refused or any other dennis lyxzen-related project
bombs over providence are the bomb (lol) too, UO is a good label in general

I remember I saw them at Warped Tour and they were so hugely grateful. I saw them the next day at a small dingy club and they just went on about how they hated how corporate warped tour was. It was just stuff like that. Not only were Jesse and London once in Avril Lavigne's band, but London works for Universal now.
well they still put out one helluva bouncy album :(

There aren't too many bands that sound like PTH other than the ones coming out now totally ripping them off. That being said, yeah, Architects are a good start. SikTh, too. Then you basically have to listen to a mix of Judas Priest, Between the Buried and Me, Aeon, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Thrice to get "their sound".

Yeah but I prefer it this way, cause its two really awesome shows instead of just one. Most of the bands on both tours are really good.
UNEARTH :PROTEST THE HERO : THE ACACIA STRAIN : GWEN STACY : WHITECHAPEL on one show
SUICIDE SILENCE : EMMURE : BENEATH THE MASSACRE : AFTER THE BURIAL : ARCHITECTS (UK) : AS THE KINGDOM FALLS on another.
It's funny that they posted it as Architects (UK).
