I was wondering if it mattered to run my condenser mic through the tube preamp to record a tube guitar amp. Would it sound better than if i just plugged the mic into the interface? And I was also wondering if anyone has recorded a harmonica before. I am planning on just plugging my shaker mic into my marshall tube guitar combo. I was jsut wondering if anybody had any better suggestions?

For some reason that was really hard to comprehend.

Yes, if you used a tube preamp, such as the Behringer MIC1000/2000 series ones, the output would sound warmer and have a bit more clarity, which is nice for a recording.

Let me see if I get what your saying... you want to record a harmonica by using a mic you use to record shakers, into a guitar amp? I would use just a regular condensor mic run into an interface for that one. Not only would it kill your amp, it's just useless...

Hahaha, no I'm sorry, I was kind of unclear. Shaker is a brand of harp mics. I want a dirtier sound than a condenser mic can give so i think im just going to do that.

hey i agree with the other guy about how ur guitar would sound better through the tube, but as for the harmonica i might be able to help. i was doing audio at a battle of the bands my city had. one of the bands used a SM57 with his harmonica and it was awsome. It was very clear but at the same time it had that gritty blues sound with it. just hold the SM57 right up against the end of ur harmonica.
