i think custom made cables would give the best quality sound but ive never used them

Not that much really =\. They do make a bit of a difference, but EQ, bass woods, settings blah blah can cover up a bad cable.

I bought one of the cheap monster cables (about 20 dollars, or £12) and it is a great cable. I'd reccomend one definetely.

what kind of difference in the EQ does it make

from what they are saying it makes the tone from the bass get to the recording unit without loosing any of the frequencys fromt he EQ. i think lol

Mine get a lot of interference oddly enough. My cheaper cables don't.

yes but monster cables have a lifetime warranty. if it ever stops working, just bring it to a guitar center or mail it to them and you get a brand new cable. you never have to buy cables again unless you need more.

Not true really, unless you've got an onboard preamp or a buffer.

The capacitance of the cord has a pretty big effect on passive basses.

unless the company goes under :p

that is highly unlikely though since so many people use them.
including me! monster ftw! (i use their 12ft bass cable mostly)
