I finally discovered the true abillities of recording into your computer, but since my practice amp has no line out, I need to get some type of cheap effects pedal/preamp to boost the signal.
Would a simple effects pedal work properly, or would I need a preamp?(and which type of effect at that?)
thanks

You can get a passive DI box for around $30.
You could get an EQ pedal, and use that, so that way you have tone-shaping too. Those range from $20 (behringer, mostly garbage) to like $200 (boss has a nice one that you can program presets into).
My favorite is the MXR 10-Band. It has 10 bands of EQ, plus input/output gain controls.

TMK that one's designed for guitar. Do you find your bottom end lacking?

My Behringer BDI21 served it's recording purposes quite well.
$30 USD.

If I use a guitar effect(not bass), would the signal end up all trebally wit no bass? (my friend wants to sell me this mult effect for $80)

$80 for a multi effect is a rip off unless its a really nice one, and yes you will loose bassyness (bottom end) and your bass will sound thin.

yes.
and whoever else it was, you dont lose that much bass. you really only lose the very, very bottom of the signal, which can either be done without, or boosted a few db on your EQ if its a problem.
