Drum micing ?uestions

hello again. Like i have said previously i plan to start recording my drums soon. I was wondering if anyone had any tricks up their sleev(?) for micing or mixing drums or anything else really that might help me once i start recording. I plan to get

Bass: audix D6
Snare: audix i5
Over head: not quite sure yet(open to suggestions)

by the way i only play with 2 crasshes, a ride, a snare, a bass, and a floor tom.

Audix is are amazing so your already looking good. The D6 is best Kick Mic on the market IMO. I suggest putting the base drum level with the sound hole (my personal preference.) Tom and snare Mics an inch from the head. Overheads 1.5 feet above cymbals. Thats all preference though. Experiement to find what you like and make sure that your happy with it.
