what kind of sound would you want? Do you like a certain genre of music?

an OLP MM2 is a MusicMan Stingray copy and is a great starter bass.

Do not get the Squier Bronco, the only good thing about it is that it's cheap. It was my first bass, and didn't last long.

I have the aforementioned MM-2, and it rocks hard considering it was $220.

But I think they are discontinued, so you would have to find a different OLP.

Yeah, I would stay away from the Bronco, you can find other starter basses that are way better. Ibanez makes some pretty good ones too.

SX basses are about 3X better than a good squier, but if you MUST get a "brand" names, get an OLP or a squier jazz(which is awseome for metal/any type of alternative)

Fact: They are not! BUT, Olp has discontinued certain color options and added new ones instead..

OLP ftw...

I recommend an Ibanez GSR 200

Thin neck, sounds good for such a low price. Try one out

I started on an Ibanez GSR200 and if I was starting again I wouldn't choose any different.
