Here's the problem. I have 1 snare stand (one good one, anyway), and 2 snares, a 14x5.5 starclassic performer and a 14x5 ludwig acrolite (no keystone, unfortunately). I've been using the performer for a while now, but only recently did I realize that the last time I changed my acrolite snareside (way back in the day) i put the wires on upside-down, which would explain why it sounded horrible, like a gunshot each time I hit it, which is why it had been going unused for so long now.
Anyway, getting to it, I've tuned the acrolite back up and everything, and it sounds great. At least, it does for an hour, maybe two, and then it's gone quite seriously out of tune. Although I do plan to change the snare head soon, I'm sure that the lugs are coming loose, because upon retuning it, I find that half the lugs are very, very tight, while others are only a half turn from being loose.
Summarized, how can I keep the snare in tune longer? My band and I are doing a home-recording next week of a few songs, and one of their friends is coming down for five hours to knock the drums out first, so I want to make sure everything sounds good by then.
