trouble restringing an acoustic

hi,

can someone please help me restring my acoustic guitar. when i put the end of the string through the pin and in the bridge hole and whenever i tighten the string the pin comes out like theres alot of tension but its not even tuned. can someone show a diagram of how to properly put the string through the pin and in the hole? thanks

Yeah I know what's going on. Here's the deal, the pin isn't supposed to hold the end of the string in. It's supposed to push the end of the string to one side (towards the neck). That way the string pulls on the top of the guitar instead of pulling the pin out.

i kinda get what your saying. can you break it down more and maybe add some pictures. it would be much appreciated. also i think i jacked up the hole for the pin cuz the pin goes in too easily and its loose.

The pin can be somewhat loose, it just needs to stay in there.

thanks alot man, that really helped. so am i suppose to bend the string slightly and when i put the peg in pull up?

Exactly. I don't know why they don't make the pegs kind of pointy that way you don't have this problem. I actually did what you were doing several times before a buddy straightened me out.
