Not the one I have.
It sucks.
Like, it wouldn't let me play Sims 2. It kept crashing on me.
Oh, sorry.
You asked a question.
I dunno.

Go down to PC World or something if youre in the UK and ask them what they would recommend. Tell them your price and everything and im sure theyll sort you out.

Nah. This isn't really an overposted topic.
I just didn't know how to answer it and I'm sick of rat boy Jezen having 4304394029034 more posts than me.

Don't go to PC world they are con men/women. If you work in an office, talk to the IT guys (nerds) or if not and your in school ask your it technicians if you have any (you should do) because as before they will know all these kinds of things.

Well, I know next to nothing about actual recording, though I do know that for a while I couldn't get my audigy2 working on my new mobo. I tried recording with an old SBlive (comp mic) and it sounded like ****... The audigy2 actually gets me a decent room recording with my comp mic.

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Recording/Computer/Hardware?sku=701368 This is what I have and it does the job. Kinda expensive, but it comes w/ a free mic that sounds great.

m-audio delta 10/10 is the standard.
try to get one with a break out box though, just cause bits of hardware look cool!

I use the e-mu 0404 with my mixer and MIDI instruments and it works fine, you get some good basic audio software with it too (Cubasis VST, Wavelab etc.)

So isit gonna be as simple as . Installing the card on the pc, plugging mixer into card, instruments into mixer, sort levels, record on audacity,nd like sort some things on there.
or is there more to it than that?? any more suggestions on cards?

Yep. thats what i do, works fine. Just you should have a good computer, becuase recording takes up alot of juice and my comp crashes often.

Yeah , my brother just had one built so we'll be using that
Thing is with all these sound cards everything seems to want to split itself between games/dvds/recording. I mean will it do the job for putting together like decent home recordings/demos , or should I and go for something like an 'Audiophile' or something?
....I am REALLY not technically minded, so i may be getting in over my head here.. bitrates....and other ****e nd wat not..it cant be as simple as just gettin a program nd pushing record surely..
Maybe I'll just pay for studio time

It would help if you said your price range, but you probably want to go with a Creative card, http://www.creative.com/. I would buy it from someplace like newegg, monarchcomputer, tigerdirect, or someplace reliable like that, newegg.com, monarchcomputer.com, tigerdirect.com. If you give me some more info, such as price, I can look for you. I'm also guessing that you have a descent computer to handle what you want to do.

It's probs best if you have a gig of ram when dealing with these sort of music programs on your pc, and recording purposes.
I can't remember the make of my friends, but that wasn't too expensive and it's a good one apparently.
This year, things are becoming into PCI express so be carefull with the one you buy, or if your motherboard can accept it. Sorry didn't really answer your question.

I really reccommend not using eBuyer, they may be cheap, but that's because they sacrifice service, I'm never using them again after the fiasco(s) I've had with my hard drives, there's even anti-ebuyer websites around.

Haha lol the computor which ill be using, ALL the componants we're bought from ebuyer and came speedily :-p
There was a prroblem, the motherboard wasnt powerful enough, so we sent it back no probs and got a better one just a little on top.
So im quite happy buying from ebayer , but thankyou for trying lolol
what was your problem(s)?

I bought a 200Gb hard drive, it came crapily packaged, broke down after a bit, so I got it replaced. I then bought a smaller 80Gb one for extra storage and the exact same thing happened. And the replacement 200 Gb one just went again and they still haven't sent a replacement, over a month after they agreed it was screwed, despite many emails.
I know a few of my friends have also had problems with wrong components, late deliveries, shoddy packaging and faulty items.

emu's are good cards, creatives are good cards (check out their new X-fi series on www.newegg.com). basically for a good card you'll be hard pressed to find one under $150. Look for one with a optical input (EMU and x-fi) so you can buy an adat eventually and actually record 8 tracks at once. look at Cool Edit Pro (Might be Adobe Audition now) for software. It's stupid simple for beginners but has all the advanced features, and you can get awesome quality from it.
