I've got this progression

Bm, C#m, F#m, F#

and want to do a solo, using A maj or F#m scale both sound like hell.

What should i use?

Your progression is non diatonic to any scale, which makes it more difficult to solo over. Let me eat dinenr and I'll think aobut it.

Bm - play D Major

C#m - play C# pentatonic minor

F#m - Play D Major

F# - Play D# Blues Minor

heh, just use the different scales over the different chords

Bm, C#m and F#m are in Amaj key. Can't i just use that, then change for the F# chord?

I tried, but still sounds weird.

B C# D E F# G# A B = B Dorian*. You can use that for all 4 chords, but sharpen the A to an A# for the F#maj chord. Try to emphasise the A# or C# (or F# or E, if you wish) when the F#maj chord is playing. It would also sound nice ending the F#m bit on an A and then going up a half-step to the A# for the F#maj chord. :thumb:

EDIT: *B Dorian has the same notes as A major, yes.

You could use F#m, but avoid playing the A note, since thats the note which will clash most in the F# chord, which has an A#.

The other thing you can do is do runs in F#m for the first three bars then finish each phrase on the 1st note of the 4th bar (the F#maj chord) on the note A#. That gives a really cool effect.
