This was posted in the Media Center. However, I wanna know what you rock forum dwellers think of this guy. He did a rendition of Fuel's Hemorrage.

I personally think he has a good chance to stand among the modern rock singers of today. Unlike Idol's past rock offering like Bo Bice who classic rock act dont really hold a candle to the classical rockers out there, this guy is not overshadowed.

So watch the vid and make a comment. Oh and dont post before you have seen the video or if u just wanna bash Idol.

I've seen the video and he nailed the song.

I have many problems with that show though. There shouldn't be an American Idol thread in R&M. IMO.

Well considering how many rock bands out there are as commercial and corporate driven as Idol, I dont see why not.

BTW, thanks for being mature when expressing dislike of the show. I appreciate it.

I really, really dislike the Idol concept, but I love that song and was forced to watch it with my wife. He did nail it pretty well. only problem is, brett scallions has a very difficult voice to portray, and the vocal lines of Fuel are not the easiest to do. but i think he did alright.

I have a huge problem with people just hopping on a TV show to get a record deal.

None of them have made it besides Kelly Clarkson. Ironically she had the least vocal talent of all the ones with record deals.

It's all great when they get up there each week and sing covers... It's a whole other thing to write your own songs and preform them. Being able to cover songs doesn't mean you can write your own well.

What ever happened to writing your own songs and making it the old way?

Most of the people on the show, are average or below in level of skill.

I just think music should be about the love of music, not hopping on TV shows and trying to out sing a crowd of average singers.

Well, not to be an arse. However, I think going onto Idol is as similar as sending in a demo to record execs.

And, I dont feel performing other people's songs is a problem. Even the old ways involve people doing covers; example, people from Eric Clapton to Dream Theater to Symphony X to Jimi Hendrix to John Mclaughlin to etc do covers.

I do agree that none of the Idols have written classic songs. However, Kelly Clarkson has co-writen some very good songs.
