Ok, its been a while since i posted anything and i'm bored of sittin at home recooping after gettin my wisdom teeth out. So list your top 10 favorite slap tunes, or top five.... i'm just bored with the couple of ones that i've been working on and have no clue what else to really work on.

Thanks in advance

My favorite of all time is "Power" by Marcus Miller...the groove drips from that song like honey. It's amazing. I get lost in it each time I play it [badly].

i love Power, took me about 2 days to get it down.... i think that by far is one of my favorites.... definately up there with Stu Hamm's Count Zero

Run for Cover by Marcus Miller. Oh my god that groove is orgasmic.

Despite the fact it's not that difficult, Aeroplane by RHCP is perfectly articulated so that it couldn't be played any better. And as far as difficulty, I'll go with What it is aka Nina's Song by RHCP

3. Les claypool- up on the roof again
4. Infectious grooves- Stop funkin' with my head
5. John scofield band- blue matter

These aren't necessarily my favorite, just the ones I could name off of the top of my head at the moment.

Despite the fact it's not that difficult

i don't really see what relevance that would have anyway.

Thank You (fallentinme be mice elf) - Sly And The Family Stone
Tommy The Cat - Primus
School Days - Stanley Clarke (more popping than slapping, but whatever)
Sinister Minister - Bela Fleck and the Flecktones
Pudding Time - Primus

No particular order.

Classical Thump for inspiring me and giving me something to work toward, even if I can never do it.

The Tenacity of Genes and Dreams for making slap sound in place in a song that is not remotely funky and has odd meters.

Tommy the Cat just for being so creative and showing the possibilities of the fretless.

1. Bardo Requiem - John Gibson (I don't expect anyone to know it... it was an original song by my dad's band, Redstripe)
2. Lacquer Head - Les Claypool
3. U Can't Hold No Groove - Victor Wooten
4. Sinister Minister - Victor Wooten
5. Bootzilla - Bootsy Collins

And sorry, as inspiring and incredible as Classical Thump is, I hate listening to it. Being a classical piece, it doesn't have the 'groove', and after listening to it for the 3rd time I realized that it's no more than another one of Wooten's "Jack-off" songs.

it's an excercise, not a song. Wooten has said this himself, and acutally, didn't even want it on the album.

I knew he wrote it as a thumb technique excercise as opposed to a song, but I didn't know he opposed it's production.

Oh hell, I can't say for sure. I just know that with exception to maybe his Amazing Grace solo, so many of his live acts are just showing off.

Me And My Bass Guitar is one that I consider to be another example. Sure it has groove and all, but the lyrics are junk. I'm reasonably convinced he wrote that song just to show what he can do; and that's fine and dandy, but I just don't enjoy listening to it when I listen to music.

Yeah, but the main theme is slap.

The solo has tapping though.

There is a slap solo, and a fingerstyle one with tapping. That song really has it all.
