No, I got to thinking and realized I don't need a lighter version of what I've already got going on. I'm probably never going to gig or anything anyway so weight shouldn't really be an issue.

Fender Jazz used: ~$400
DiMarzio Ultra Jazz J/J set: ~$100
Used Peavey TNT 115: ~$350-400
:amaze:
Yeah that's all I got. $1k is a little low for a "ultimate rig."
EDIT: oshi not 1k total, 1k each.
Amp: QSC power amp, some EQ head
Cab: Probaby something from Avatar
Bass: used Yamaha TRB JP sig in orange. :D

It sounds great. Like, really great. Thick and warm, but with grit and balls still, even with flats on. Precision + all tube head = Seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeex. I love it. It's not as intense as the G&L, which was what I wanted. Depending on how this P treats me, and how much play the G&L gets, you may just see her up on the block one of these day
Of course, if that ever happens, I have to give Mike the first shot at it :thumb:

First, 2 of those^. It's a Warr Guitar, and is basically a mix between a guitar, a bass, and (only in the way it's played) a keytar. I'd want one to be a 12 string, in stereo, which would require two amps. The other would be 8 string mono.
The preamp for both sides would be the Alembic F2-B. The power amp for the bass side is probably going to be a QSC, into an Avatar 2X12 Neo. The power amp for the lead side is going to be a Carvin all tube power amp, into an Avatar guitar cab (not sure what kind yet). There will also be a stereo compressor, an Eventide harmonizer, a crap-load of effects, and a MIDI set-up for the lead side of the 12 string.

Here goes.
It's what I already have.
Amplification: got it all for under $1000
BBE Bmax preamp
ART Model 341 dual 15 band eq
DBX stereo compressor
Crown Stereo power amp (600 watts per channel)
Behringer BTR2000 Rack tuner
Cabinets: built them myself
4x10 Eminence loaded
1x15 Eminence loaded
Bass: this is where the problem starts. How to pick just one. Well, they were all under $1000 each.
Alembic Epic
G&L L2500
Musicman Bongo
Peavey T-40
Eventually, my Winters Customs will be in there.

Oh I know the head isn't going to give a lot. (450 @ 4ohms right?) I wouldn't plan to push it very hard. Volume is the least of my concerns lol. I figure if there is ever a need to have it pushed hard that there would be a PA system.
And yeah I really love the sound of it.

Well For smaller gigs: Fender bassman 135 with original 2x15 cab.
Big gigs: 2 yamaha bbt500h with twin marshall 4x12s, 2 Markbass little mark 2's with twin markbass 4x10s and then 2 ampeg svt classic's with matching 2x15's all biamped for mid, high and low. Ideal bass I would have about 7 but my main would be a rickenbacker 4001, my backup a fender 1972 all original pbass. Then i would have various fretless and a 7 string custom built. Also effects: Dunlop 105Q bass wah, English Muff'n, Ashdown Octave Up pedal, Bass xciter and strobo stomp tuner.
But if it was limited probably just
The yamaha bbt500h and twin 4x12s with a rickenbacker 4001 and a dunlop bass wah.

Not a joke. Six strings are useless in 90% of musical situations, no matter what any pseudo-intellectual theory elitest 6 string players have to say. Just get a guitar, and I mean that in all seriousness. A five I can understand. But you have to understand the role of the bassist. You don't get props for playing solos on the bass up in the guitar range, because that is pointless. Utilise the natural range of the bass instrument, rather than extending it a few octaves.

As far as "You don't get props for playing solos on the bass up in the guitar range, because that is pointless. And another thing...you add five semi-tones range, and all of a sudden it's a guitar? And yeah, I guess Jaco, Vic, Sheehan, Stanley Clarke, etc didn't get any props for any of their solos in the upper ranges of their instruments (which, in the real world, are just as high as what most players can get out of a high C, most of the time). You could probably name 10-ish players. Like I said, 90% of the time you will be fine with a four string - Jaco and Victor and Sheehan and Clarke always used fours (to my knowledge) and are the leaders in solo bass. I think six strings are pointless and just for people who are too lazy to change a few positions.
Living inside my box... I might tune my bass to ADGC or something, if I really wanted to. I don't really have enough money for strings atm anyway. I bet with my four string I can make just as good, if not better, music that those with 6 strings. And don't give me this "its subjective" crap.

Because musical diversity isn't accepted in your box, right?
Note that a 6 string bass, when strung BEADGC, adds 8 notes to your bass (or whatever the "correct" termonology is) as opposed to an EADG tuned 4 string. Also note that a 6 string can be tuned F#BEADG as well, if you want the extra low notes, and so on, and so forth. Thanks for playing.

You could probably name 10-ish players. Its subjective. Deal with it.
So Jaco and Vic are fine with 4 strings. Good for them. Too bad not everyone is like them. Im sure Vic would be just as lost on a 12-string bass as Al Caldwell would be on a 4-banger.
Different strokes for different folks.
And Vic uses 5-bangers sometimes.

No, that was at several points through the year.

I inquired around the holiday season, so that probably had something to do with it.
So does anyone know when the 4003 gets that new, easier to intonate bridge?

Except that 60" cab would completely blow your hearing. And most likely the hearing of everybody within a 300 square foot radius.
