Just mark the spot on your body where the bridge holes are and use a drill press to make the holes through the entire body. I wouldn't suggest using a hand drill because the holes won't line up on the back as well. Then you have buy some string ferrules for the back. They go right in the holes and it all works nice. Just watch out because you might need to buy longer strings.

if u dont have a drill press rent 1 from the local hardware store.

then install the bridge as normal.

using a pencil mark the location on the holes

take a punch(or nail if u dont have 1) and hammer slighty into the center of the marked hole. the goal is to make a small indent for the drill bit to sit in.

using a drill bit the same size as the hole in the bridge drill all the way thru the body.

now take a larger drill bit (use theferrule to decide the proper size) and tape it off at about 1/2 inch (or w/e the desired length from the tip) agian use the ferrule

now drill from the back towards the front until u hit the tape.

do this for each hole and install yer ferrules.

help?

I dont know how old you are but if you're a teenager use your schools. That's what I would do, I get along great with my tech teachers.

This isn't a complicated thing... You have more than enough information in the first post to execute this perfectly.

If you don't have access to a drill press, I would not suggest trying this, because it will look like abosulte pooh if you attempt it with a hand drill.

I was going to do this on my bass, but I have no access to a suitable drill so I never got round to it.

To be honest, I don't personally think it has much of an effect on anything unless your bridge has a terrible break angle, or has the tapered ends or wraps coming over the saddle. It's always seemed like more of a gimmick than anything.

The drilling is pretty easy to get straight. I've also taken a nail (about a half inch longer than the body wood) and pounding it straight in and through. Then pop it out and widen the hole.

will the ferrules just stay in the holes (cause of string tension), or do you glue em in?
