So I've had my bass since Dec. 31. I think I'd rather play bass than guitar, but that's what I said about drums a month before I got rid of them. But I've been playing my bass through my 10W guitar amp & it's really messing it up. It keeps going in & out, even at low volumes, & I know I'm going to have to replace it soon.
The problem is, I only have $100 to spend.
And--this is where I want you to read it--twice if you must:
I ONLY HAVE $100. I HAVE NO JOB. I AM 15. I CAN'T GET A JOB SO DON'T EVEN SAY IT. I HAVE NO INCOME. MY PARENTS AND FRIENDS HAVE NO MONEY EITHER. I HAVE NO MORE AND WILL NOT HAVE ANY MORE THAN $100.
I'm trying to start a band but all you can get for under $100 is <30W. If I start a band I want to be able to hear what I paid for, you know?
I don't know what to do! Should I sell my guitar to help pay for something better? That's all I can think of...but I don't want to sell my guitar in case I start playing guitar again! I haven't played it since I had my bass, but you never know.
But I can't think of anything else to do.
I have to figure it out fast too before my amp completely breaks & I have nothing. :( :( :(
advice PLEASE ?

lemonade stand :p
look for a used amp...although i highly doubt you'll get anything for 100 you can hear over a drumset...sell some stuff you have lying around the house and try to get at least $200...maybe you cant get an income job but try doing some stuff under teh table...babysitting etc....just trying to help but honestly your going to need more then 100 to hear yourself over drums. However a used amp for 100 just to mesa round with is plenty to get started...you can also just wait till your 16 and get a job
hope it helped some...

You can get a job, don't even try that. There's alway some place that will hire you no matter what. I had a job when I was 13. Just go out and find a job, even if it isnt a real job. I worked (and still work) at a bingo, not a real job, I got paid under the table but I still worked and made some money. My friend is 14 and works at a hockey rink. Go work at a McDonalds or something, I see so many 14/-16 year old kids working there.

nope, not in lovely salem, va. what should i do just go in & ask if they need someone? i vaguely remember trying that a few times...it failed miserably...
even if i did, my mom apparently is getting old & some days she can't drive so i wouldn't be able to get over there.

I would say, try to find a friend or possible bandmate who might have one. Or get a 25W, and have guitarist play unplugged, until you can get more cash. Or look at ebay, though shipping will kill you. Or don't worry about a band yet, just play unplugged without using an amp. I highly suggest not to sell the guitar unless you are dead certain of giving up, or if it is a cheap guitar then sell it and rebuy similar kind when you get money.

Hmm, I guess maybe it easier for me and friends around here to get jobs. I'm native, and I live on a native reserve, everyones pretty friendly around here. My boss lives right across the street from me and my other boss lives down the street from me so maybe I just got lucky. No clue, but try a McDonalds, that's a white business (I'm not racist) and they have 14/15/16 y/o's working there.

it only cost $160, but if i did decide to play again, i know i'd do it in a peak of poverty. ha. i think the music store said they'd give me $120 store credit for it...i think i might do that.
i don't think i'd be able to save for a better one once i got the cheap one.

Buy a behringer bx600 should work decently. I was competing with a fiarly loud drummer a marshall half stack 120 watts and another guitarist with say 50-100 watts so it is capable of being heard and its only $150
real_low_mind
03-02-2006, 07:16 PM
that's what i was thinking of getting...but then i thought how shall i get $50?
my mom SAID she's getting her income tax, maybe i'll get $50 that way.

ok now we're getting way too expensive. I knew you wouldn't read the bold. should i italicise it too?

ok, so some guy said
Buy a behringer bx600 should work decently. I was competing with a fiarly loud drummer a marshall half stack 120 watts and another guitarist with say 50-100 watts so it is capable of being heard and its only $150
and then you said

my mom SAID she's getting her income tax, maybe i'll get $50 that way. implying that you were going to try to get the extra $50
then i said
better yet, go find a use bx1200 for around the same price. thus stating you could get it for around the same price that you already considered. so no, you dont need to italicize.

Haha, see you took that the wrong way. I said McDonalds is a white business and they always have teenagers working there. I said white because I previously stated that it was easy for me to get a job because a native neighbor of mine helped me out and got me a job. And I was only like 13/14 at the time. And I said everyone that lives on the reserve are native, obviously, because its a native reserve so its easier for native teenagers to get a job because everyone is friendly and helps them out. And McDonalds isnt on the reserve, its found all over the place and they always have teenagers working there. So I said go apply there. You fool. And most natives prefer plain old beer instead of whisky.:chug:
And oh yeah, those white trailer trash type of people drink too much and love their whiskey a bit too much. (I'm not racist:) )

wrong, but after all it is wikipedia. RMS is the wattage that the SPEAKER functions most efficently at. Peak is the wattate the that speaker will function to without damage.

i can't sell the guitar amp, i broke it. i can hardly play it. even if someone did want to buy a broken 10W guitar amp they wouldn't buy it for enough money to get the bass amp.
There's no way I can get $60 for the bx600 i think it is (the behringer) without selling my guitar.
