I didnt know where to put this thread, but whatever. I just bought '!' and it was awesome. They kind of reminded me of at the drive-in at times. I was just wondering if anyone here was a fan of them.

I really like The Dismemberment Plan Is terrified, that's such a great album. Emergency & I is good too but less quirky and less fun I think. They were a great band though :thumb:

Were I a girl and wore panties, they would get all hot and bothered for Trav and company.

This band are insanely good. "!" is probably their worst release, and Emergency & I probably their best (and my favourite album of the 90's by a long, long, long way). ...Is Terrified is really enjoyable, and has some awesome tracks whilst Change is not as immeadiately brilliant it still has a few tracks that stand out as the D 'Plans best work; Superpowers, Time Bomb, Face of the Earth.
So yeah, if your reading this topic and don't have "Emergency & I" then you should spend your next half hour attempting to download this album; words cannot describe its utter brilliance. Oh, and Back & Forth is the the greatest song of the last 10 years - no question - I can't think of many songs that simultaneously groove and sway my body whilst engaging me both emotionally and intellectually at the level Back & Forth does; sublime would be an under-exaggeration.
I want a reunion. :(
Dismemberment Plan are awesome. Emergency & I is by far their best album and one of the best albums of the 90's. It's a shame they had to break up. They were **** and I'm all for a DP reunion.
And although they've only been gone for a little while, I'd like QANU to get back together too. They were another awesome DC band.

Emergency & I isn't one of the best albums of the 90s. It is the best album. Book it.
The ATDI similarities disappear once they grow up a little.

Ooo you rile me up Mr. Zmev.
At least Change isn't, you know, a shiitty album, so you don't have to die for that.

These guys sound good. I'm searching for Emergency and I as we speak. I speak. As I speak.
NB: Downloading as I speak

I've been meaning to check out these guys for like 2 years.
Their name reminds me of The Dillinger Escape Plan so they faded in the background of my 'Check Out' list.

It's not at all what I was expecting after hearing that ATDI comparison, but it's alrite. Nothing extraordinary I wouldn't say, but nb at all.

Yeah, their name threw me off a little at first back in the day, but once I heard the lyrics to 'Back and Forth', I realized that these guys had created one of the most amazing things I'd ever heard.
"So in the end, whatever, we die, we dissolve
Equations unbalanced, riddles unsolved
And we were never connected or involved
Except for the intersections and crazy mathematics
With no time and no space and no schedule and no place
And we pass right through it without a trace
And sometimes that music drifts through my car
On a spring night when anything is possible
And I close my eyes and I nod my head
And I wonder how you been and I count to a hundred and ten
Because you’ll always be my hero, even if I never see you again"

Pretty good band, not bad at all.
Nothing extraordinary? People cried when Dismemberment Plan broke up, and you're saying they're nothing extraordinary? These guys will live on as indie rock legends, and you're saying they're nothing extraordinary? If Dismemberment Plan were still around, they'd round up all their ****ty instruments -- using window screens for amp covers -- from days of old and they would rock the **** out of your head like no other band has ever done before.

I have this hope deep-down that they'll be the modern day Velvet Underground, with their popularity growing as the years go on. Nobody did anything like their last two albums before them, and I just get the feeling that there's gonna be a stock of bands coming up in the next few years out of that mold.

If I ever form a band, you can bet that they'll sound like the Dismemberment Plan. And Jackalope that would be awesome if they turned into the modern day equivalent of the VU; the band that nobody has heard of but everyone who has heard of them has then formed a band. :)
Dismemberment Plan ftw.

Maybe, but I doubt it.

I only like a few songs here and there. But man, are those songs great.
The stuttering in Girl O'Clock is one of the most genius moments in music ever.

Everyone's entitles to their own opinions, right? But I guess I'll just have to wait around until this day comes.
NB: People cried when my band droke up:upset:

It's one of like 4 5/5's of the decade, IMO.
your mom is one of the 5/5's of the decade.

E&I is like a 3.5/5. This band is painfully overrated. Not bad though.
For real.

I prefer Emergency & I and Change to their earlier stuff. I think they suited the more mellow sound.
These two albums are amazing though.

I dunno how you cannot like "..Is Terrified" its utterly fantastic, apart from Thats When The Party Started; Respect is Due is like the greatest post-break up song ever.

I love Emergency And I and The Ice Of Boston EP, (the two releases I have by these guys). I'm really behind on downloading more stuff due to the fact that my pc recently blew up.
Great driving music.

If I listened to the Dismemberment Plan whilst driving, I'm 99% sure it would make me go much faster than regulations allow.
