Daily Upload - March Edition

February was an incredible month! We had 333 albums and 1786 posts. I want to thank everyone that contributed to the thread and especially those that spent the time uploading and doing write-ups.

If your new to the mailing list concept, here's how it works:
Every day or so an email will be sent out to everyone on the list. In the email will be links to albums that have been uploaded by you, your fellow MXers, and myself. We will all have the benefit of hearing bands we might never have been exposed to.

If you would like to be on the mailing list, post your email address and then contribute to the discussion as you receive the emails. Posting ONLY your e-mail address without leaving a comment will NOT be tolerated. It's not hard to say "Thank you" or something else along those lines, but do NOT just put down your e-mail address, or you'll be passed over.

Do NOT re-post your address if you are already on the list :)

This is a forum after all, so please post comments and discuss the music that you have downloaded. If you never post in the thread I will remove you from the list. In the past, the size of the list got way out of hand compared to the number of people actually contributing.

If you would like to contribute, please upload using one of these services: http://www.yousendit.com http://www.megaupload.com http://www.rapidshare.de http://www.uploading.com
Yousendit has the best download speeds but the links expire after 25 downloads. If you use this service, please upload more than once. I suggest doing two YSI links and one using another service.

If you upload something for the mailing list, please include a description of what you've uploaded as well as the links. Reviews and links to band websites are great to go with an album.

I have moved the Upload History and the Requests to a website. You can actually search for an album or artist to see if it has already been uploaded. Please check back here frequently. I will update it every day or so to try staying on top of the requests. The Requests are also searchable and listed in alphabetical order.

it's a music file format converter, really easy to use - just go into the files' folders, highlight them, then right-click and convert. it's a free programme, and should help a few people put things into .mp3 instead of .wma, which helps any uses on macs. it doesn't do .m4a files though.

The layout of those websites is really friggin slick. Now uploaders can search for what's needed and DLers can know what theyve missed, so it's really useful in my mind. Just giving you a little feedback, everything's been running really smoothly with you at the helm, so keep it up!

I have a few things to say
First off : Great work with the site, (Grimmrobe demos, not Brimmrobe, spelling error) absolutely great l can now search to see if an album I have wanted is requested etc, and its organized.
2: For how little posts you have (which isnt always a sign) you are an extremely good poster, and to have this organized for that is absolutely amazing.
3. I have been in this since the beginning and let me tell you, its still great, you have maintained it very well.

yeah this is really well done with the request list and all that, the only thing i can recommend adding is on the request list some way of seeing which requests have already been dibbed so as to avoid things like what happened with me and wish a moment ago, but if thats too time consuming or something thats cool.

Nothing in todays issue that struck a nerve, so I decided to check out a band I've never heard of.

(what I do, is scan for albums I've been looking for, and if there are none I check out a new band)

So I'm in the process of downloading the November's Doom album.

Also, once I get some free time I'll upload 2 albums that mix both metal and blues elements by 2 canadian bands named Shikasta and The Illuminati.

That album's not their best.

Pale Haunt Departure's their best and possibly one of the best CDs released in 2005. I've just sent it to Metaloz. They've abandoned their generic overblown tendencies and found their sound on it ie. no female vocals and keyboards, just powerful death/doom metal with classical acoustic passages ie. the direction Opeth did not take with Ghost Reveries but should have.

It's coming up with an advertisement that never used to be there. In the top right hand corner, there's a button saying "Continue with megaupload". Then, close the "Megaupload links" box that comes up, and beneath that it will say "Click here to download".

Seems like a way bigger pain in the arse than it used to be.

The only song that I've heard before was Blindfolds Aside, the instruments were good but the singer kinda bugs me.

The cd sounds alright so far, getting used to the vocals.

He reminds me a lot of Cedrix from the Mars Volta, just he sings over metallish riffs.

I used something called Internet Download Manager, until the trial period ran out :angry: It made my downloads a hell of a lot faster. For example instead of getting 40-120 k/sec I was getting 200-300!!!! If you use IDM you just go to a site like yousendit or megaupload and right click on the "download" button, click copy link location and go to "add url" in IDM and paste it there. Then you press download now.

Kalmah - The Black Waltz was done on 2/19 and the megaupload link is still working, if someone is looking for that album, I can send them the link (unless you want to use a different service for folks that have trouble with megaupload..

It makes sense to use more than one service if possible since different people have different luck with rapidshare and megaupload, I can't make it a requirement. Most Rapidshare problems can be fixed by using a proxy. If you have firefox, get the Switch Proxy (http://www.roundtwo.com/product/switchproxy) plugin, and google 'Proxy list' and use one of them - you'll be able to get past the download limit error. Also, make sure that you type in the code and click the link pretty much as soon as the 60 second timer finishes, otherwise the link will expire.
