go to the Beginner Questions section
type in "beginner" under the seach function
you will find FOUR threads on the first page that have "beginner songs" in those exact words in the title that are pages long
but good job making another one

Are you looking to learn or asking for your drummer? Either way, I dont' really think there are essential songs a beginner should learn, but there are basic beats and rudiments that would be useful. A basic rock beat for one (think AC/DC), and rudiments such as single stroke roll, double stroke roll, triplet, paradiddle, ect.

Check out the lessons section. Andy visits MX frequently and is a very talented drummer and clinician. He definetly knows his stuff and those lessons are pretty good.
