Well I've noticed TMC has been a little slow so I thought I'd post this in here.

Apparently the MPAA have decided to go from [insert previous activity here] sites to torrent sites. I guess it's understandable as there's a shiit load of piracy on these sites. But, as it says in the article, all sites like torrentspy.com do is act as a search engine for torrents, they don't actually host them.

So being a regular torrenter I was wondering what everyone elses view is. What will happen if they succeed? Will it, as a comment on the page sugests, just fuel more people to start pirating things?

I don't use torrents, so it doesn't really concern me that much.

I've tried them before, but I've never found a decent one with metal I like.

Torrentspy needs the sites hosting the hash/torrent files and trackers in order to search them. Those sites go down and torrentspy and similar sites become worthless.

Even if, by some miracle, those sites get shutdown for good.. new sites will just keep popping up. The same thing that happened with Napster will happen with torrent sites. The MPAA will never stop piracy of any form.

Even if they get those shutdown, there are still big ones out there.

They shutdown Supernova a while ago and from it spawned another like 3. They're idiots and don't realize that they can't stop it.

HAHA. Some of the reponses they sent back.

Hello and thank you for contacting us. We have shut down the website in
question.

Oh wait, just kidding. We haven't, since the site in question is fully
legal. Unlike certain other countries, such as the one you're in, we have
sane copyright laws here. But we also have polar bears roaming the
streets and attacking people :-(.

Please don't sue us right now, our lawyer is passed out in an alley from
too much moonshine, so please atleast wait until he's found and doesn't
have a huge hangover...

^Huh?
I dont get that reply they sent.

More gems:

Hello, my dear sir(s)!
We all like Evangelion a lot. This, however, does not mean that we like
YOU. So instead of mindlessly acting on your notice of so-called
infringement, I took the liberty of forwarding it to our legal counsel:

Him defending his name (anakat) I think?

(Actually the extra 't' has always been there. I suppose I could ask
the elders of the family why it was added, but most of them have
passed on, and the remaining few don't like talking to the younger
generation.)

My favourite:

At least now I'm sure you're not Pinochio, because if you were, your
nose would've crashed into your monitor by now.

^Huh?
The company (greyzone) who was demanding PirateBay remove the files e-mailed him back after PB originally e-mailed him making fun of them. They responded with the deffinition of Sophmoric, he responded back a second time with the deffinition of Humiliation.

Hahah that's pretty funny. The emails and responses under the Web Sheriff links are hilarious. The guy tries to email them in Swedish and they respond by telling him to stop using babelfish.

But the response from greyzone? Seems pointless, they fell into TBP trap really. I get what theyre saying but why? Great burn by TPB at the end though.

Hahaha that site was awesome.

The best one was 'Please do not contact our lawyer because he has passed out in an alley after drinking to much moonshine.'

My bad I should really read through stuff rather than skim.

The TPB replies really do try to push them into retaliating tho:

In the meantime: Enjoy our tracker! If you browse under "animal photographs" I'm sure
that you'll find something that tickles just that "special" spot.
Hope to see you at the annually furry-convention in Las Vegas! Our whole
staff will be going as the cast from the movie "Homeward Bound: The
Incredible Journey"
