massmusic.net I think its more or less $500 for both hi hat and double pedal...

all the things Im getting, I cant ever get from the music stores here so its something I am determined to get... I wont let anyone buy it before me haha... Guam sucks that bad with musical instruments....

By the way, whats the difference between accelerator and turbo DW5000s though?

Tim

Here. Strait from the DW site.

The Accelerator (A) Drive System offers an eccentric motion that creates an indirect relationship between the sprocket and the footboard, increasing the velocity of the pedal by shortening the length of the stroke. It is recommended for situations that require increased speed and sensitivity.

The Turbo (T) Concentric Drive System maintains a direct relationship between the sprocket and the footboard to provide a solid, powerful, consistent feel and response.

The flexibility and relaxed feel of DW’s Nylon Strap (N) Drive System offers a classic balance and fast, fluid, floating response that continues to make it the favorite of many traditional and contemporary drummers.

The Accelerator is offset and the turbo is center.

Sorry to break your fun but DW's are probably the weakest pedals on the market (minus those really really really cheap 20$ plastic pedals... )... So they probably won't last a lifetime and they ain't really rock solid but they're friggin awesome! :thumb:

Edit: BUY THEM! And what the hell is this insanely ridiculous deal!? Used or something??

You know what? You're right.

You want to know what else? As soon as you get into pro pedals (or even intermediate), ANY pedal will last years.

If the DW's last 2 years less, big effin deal.

(that was to Dummer'n'Drummer).

DW's arent weak. Youre crazy. Ive had my 7002's for a long *** time already and i havent seen one single problem in them. the 5000s are higher quality too.

Obviously they will but any Pearl/Tama will last much longer... + the Delta II are a tiny winy still faulty...

crazyguy832
03-01-2006, 08:59 PM
Never mind him, he's just a moron.

DW's are just as good as other pedals. You just need to take care of them a bit more.

And it's the 9000s that fall apart more than other pro pedals, anyways.

He's right in a way, however. DW's ARE notorious for breaking more than other pedals.

If you're not a heavy hitter, though, you don't have anything to worry about. If you are, well, meh, big deal, the pedal will still last years.

dbl_bass_drmr_Jirvy

That's totally crap. Big smelly slimey crap. DW's are not notorious for anything other then being of the highest quality.

Do tell us all then, how many DW5k's have you broke, or seen broke or even heard of breaking?

Cause I can think of at 3 least IC pedals that have been broken and mentioned on this forum. Some even with pictures. Not to mention Tama's notoriouslly bad customer service and response times (least here in the US).

dbl_bass_drmr_Jirvy
03-02-2006, 04:12 PM
Wow... honestly.... Tama ICs are a craze over here... but I dont really go for it because everyone thinks its the best in the world or something...

not until they see my future DW5000 :)

I had the original 7000's the single chains for almost a decade. Never had one mishap with them ever.

I love DW, I'm probably going to end up going with the 5ks or 9ks when I get pro pedals. All I'm saying is that I've heard more stories in more places of DW's breaking than other pedals.

Maybe it is all just bull (like all the "problems" with the 360 launch that were so "unusual"), but all I'm saying is I've heard more bad things about DW than other pedals.

Josiah
03-03-2006, 11:58 AM
I've heard aliens are running the earth. Zildjian's came from mars. OCDP drums are the best and Travis Barker rockx!!!

Get the point? People say all kinds of crap. Forums are a decent place to get a general idea of what works and what does by simply watching the questions.

Fact - Out of some odd years on here. I've never seen (i coulda missed it of course) a thread complaining about DW's breaking. However I have seen at least 3 people complain about their IC's breaking. Also numerous people, including Jim, can attest to the horrible customer service we have in the US. According to Damo, this is not the case in Australia, and I'm inclined to believe him. (Wadup Damo!)

Now that I think about it, we've seen prob the oldest DW sell for more then a new one. Wich would be a great argument for value appreciation in DW gear.

Meh.

*relents*

After going on various forums where each one states that DW's bust incredibly easily, it starts to grow on you, ya know.

ECKS FRIGGIN DEE

Meh, one I was surprised to see it was the Derek Roddy forums. Those guys are great in most categories, but don't talk to them about pedals if you don't like Axis (well, you can, but they're a bunch of Axis whores).

Josiah
03-03-2006, 12:17 PM
Ah yes that figures... they prob can give a nice disertation on "groove" too.

crazyguy832
03-03-2006, 12:19 PM
Haha, yeah. But, hey, if you want to get a metal perspective, it's a great place.

But I did hear some pretty cool jazz recordings of Derek's on there, so meh.

Sorry to break your fun but the DW's are definitly one of the strongest pedals on the market. I have heard many more accounts of pearls crap plastic cams breaking way more then I've heard anything bad about the DW's.

If you know how to take care of your gear those pedals will last a extremly long time.

That is an insane deal your getting man. The hat stand is so awsome. Super solid beastly stand, and oh so smooth!

So they probably won't last a lifetime and they ain't really rock solid but they're friggin awesome! :thumb:What a moronic statement. Maybe if something was said along the lines of "From what I've heard, DWs break more than Eliminators and Iron Cobras" it would be somewhat sensible, but saying they are anywhere near the weakest pedals on the market is ridiculous. If you've been breaking DWs, you're a moron who needs to learn how to play. If you have no experience with DWs then you are a moron who needs to shut up.

He's right in a way, however. DW's ARE notorious for breaking more than other pedalsSays who? Slipknot Da PwnZing Mod on Pearl Forums? Who gives a rats *** about what he says. He works in Guitar Center. Big deal, everyone knows GC sucks.

As to the threadstarter... I would be inclined to go for the new Delta 3's, but nothing wrong with what you are getting :thumb:.

o0h... Delta III... well I guess Im still good with Delta IIs... I mean... you cant find deals like this on Guam... you cant even find much of DW or PDP here...

$500 for PDP MX Shells, DW5000 hi hat stand, DW5000 Double Pedal, Roc-N-Soc Throne.... I think thats enough for me.... haha...
