Alright, so the title says it all.. playing this- how would I notate the half of the sextuplet?

Overall, I'm confused about notation, so if I'm wrong at all with something, tell me.

4/4

Tabs are a waste of time. Sextuplets look like triplets only there is 6 of them and they have a 6 above them.

Thanks for that, how do you NOTATE 3 notes of a sextuplet though?

The thanks was sarcastic. I know what a sextuplet is, and I'm not in a good mood.

half of a sextuplet is a triplet of the same value.

TAB is horrible to read, and as youre finding out, its hopeless for anything other than the most basic of notation.

Which song are you tabbing?

I was just thinking about it.

But.. Half a sextuplet would be a 16th note triplet, no?

I know tabs suck too, but I just don't know how to draw it (like in actual notation). And.. did you answer my question? I'm so confused.

Correct!

So would it be a normal sixteenth note with the note, then two lines connecting them horizontally (like a sixteenth note) with a 3 on top of it?

What would you do for ridiculous things like.. playing the +, then the last note of a quintuplet?

Name something you can't do in tabs.

Cause I can notate anything I want/need to in them.

Tabs are the work of the devil. I get students handing me tabs when they want to learn a song and half the time I cannot understand a lot of what's printed, it's a mess. It's a helluva lot easier to read real notation. You need a degree in masochism to persevere with tabs. Trying to understand sextuplets by using tabs is also a complete waste of time.

Good for you. But I can name something that tab is not best suited for:

Writing music

well I don't know if you can consider this help or hindrance, but because I started drumming using tabs, when I write music I first put down the dots and crosses on the staff like how a tab will look then connect them. haha. It helps alot (for me at least) when the spaces in time between the notes are proportional to the spaces on the paper.

Here's a full bar of sextuplets in tab form:

S|oooooooooooooooooooooooo|
.|1tl+tl2tl+tl3tl+tl4tl+tl|

And what about as a quick fill?

H|x-x-x-x-x-x-x-----|
t|----------------o-|
T|-----------------o|
S|----o----------o--|
B|o-------o---ooo---|
.|1e+a2e+a3e+a4tl+tl|

What's so hard about that? I understand it. Yes, it is slightly clunkier than regular sheet music, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with writing in tabs.

And I can read normal music just fine, but I prefer WRITING in tabs because my typing skils FAR outweigh my writing skills.

And if it's that big of a deal, I write piano in sheet music.
