Ugh... Aheads...

Ugh... duct tape all over the bass...

Honestly, though, the sound is too much of a mess to tell what he's doing.

Doesn't seem too bad. Big minuses for the Aheads, and sloppy drum taping.

I have a lot of muffling in my kick, but at least I don't tape it.

Ugh.

meh, hes fast, but sloppy, hes got a pretty decent single hand roll though, I rather enjoyed that, so i rate him 4/10 overall drumming wise.

this noob (me) thinks the same: fast, but sloppy.

I think if he slowed it down a bit and had a better recording, I could definitely be quite impressed. he's still, of course, much better than I am right now....but I, at least, know my limits, and wouldn't bother trying to play so fast if I was as sloppy as that..

this guys sucks. First off... he's got tape.
Drums are meant to breath... muffling is just wrong unless you are in the studio... period.
secondly, he just has no rhythms. He's an athletic type, i'm guessing because of his shirt. Athletes don't make good musicians... because to them, its a competition. Tell him I said he sucks.... i'd say it to his face, but I don't know where he is.

Yeah, that clip was garbage. Tell him to play something technical, or put music in front of him.

Hes good that recording didn't show what he can do. I could tell becuase he grooved and had chops he just didn't make sense out of the solo. He was probably timed so he tried to show off as much as he could.
Edit: I just read the TS's post and lost alot of respect for him. Yeah he can lay it down but judging by what he says I bet hes been playing for a really long and time and what he is doing in that video is garbage for the amount of time hes playing.

I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't true.
A good drummer understands the concept that showing off doesn't mean much. Had he played solidly and with catchy rhythmic understanding, then perhaps he'd have some credibility.

How about some posts to his actual music.

Its just a theory I never said that it was true but thats my guess. He was a solid drummer. If what the TS said was true then he's probably been playing for a really long time where he just drags along slowly and thinks hes good because he can show off to people playing for half a year or so.

hell be playing a little over a year in march. I think hes played longer than that though caus hes always had drums. but like when it come down too guitar he gets a 15 outta 10. Hes a damn good guitarist. but works more on his Chops then his musicallity, hes got faster hands than me (not feet though :P) but ya his musicallity is what i think he should be working on more, not chops.

he's just doing doubles between the kick and snare...

he's got no sense of rhythm, and he's all over the place...

Damn in that case hes good. I don't see why you people don't like him. Hes playing one year and hes developed great chops and through that crappy video he has a good groove. I think hes good, if he considers himself a portnoy screw him but he is good.

I could see how anybody who doesn't play drums would immediately think he's awesome. He doesn't really get any special recognition either way in my book, not very good, not very bad. I could probably give him a few pluses and minuses

"Athletes don't make good musicians... because to them, its a competition."

Nice stereotype that doesn't pan out with reality.

For a year, he's really, really good...

If he's been playing a lot longer, he's alright...
