Quick question, what would be the sound difference between a 20", 21" and 22" ride cymbal. I'm gonna be picking up a new ride sometime in the next couple of months, and I'm thinking I may lean towards a 21" or a 22".

these are the rides you will get...its not a suggestion. Its a demand.
20" Zildjian K Heavy Ride
21" Zildjian A Sweet Ride
22" Sabian Paragon Ride
One of those will be yours...whether you like it or not, so choose wisely...

I've really been thinking about the 22" Paragon, I've heard good things, but have never heard it, I want something that's sort of washy, but still has fairly good stick definition, that's medium, not too bright, not too dark...definitely not the heavy K ride. What's the 21" A Sweet like?

15&1/2"special paiste 101/ahead combo. You can find these primarily in your kitchen with the rest of the pans etc

You know, the sweet ride might be what your looking for. I can't really say how bright or dark it is, but its a crashable ride and it has stick definition from what I remember, and since its crashable, it has that wash that I think you might be looking for. I played one at a GC and it sounded great.
On a different note, Motleyguy, have you read The Dirt? I'm reading it now and its great.

Solid bell too. Not much "Ping" to it, but it sounds much prettier then most.
I can't really say how bright or dark it is, but its a crashable ride and it has stick definition from what I rememberIt's pretty dark. And yes crashing it sounds amazing.

That's what I'm looking for, something crashable, fairly washy, but with a good bell (uses the bell, maybe more than he should).

I have a sweet ride and the paragon ride among 5 other rides (which I use for different songs) and I would go for the Paragon. It sounds the best.

Thanks for the suggestions, I figure I'll check out the paragon and the A Sweet, K Rides, and other heavy rides don't appeal to me.

Of course, a 20" ride will be brighter than a 21" or 22". Also, smaller rides will tend to have more wash, but less sustain.
