Hey guys i've seen a few pics of rides about 40" wide, where can i buy one of these in the uk and how much do they cost.

You have? I've heard of a 30", but never a 40". Why, oh why, would you want a ride that big?

Needless to say, I have no idea. As far as cost goes, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the cost exceeded £1000.

go ahead and buy a small island instead of wasting money on one of those

You wouldn't get much use out of it. It would weigh a tonne and ring forever. Unless of course if you bought yourself a Zildaisteabian 66" Heavy Gospel Ride.

You could always drill a hole through a gong. Pointless though.

Would this be used for your drumkit or would you use it as a sheild?

Jezen

Sheild!? No. Castle gate.

40" ride = stupidest thing i've ever heard...

when i read the title i thought he would say like 24"

LoneStarDrummer
02-28-2006, 02:28 PM
same here. i was also assuming 24". a 24" paiste is the biggest i've seen, and even then that's pushing it in my book.

why would you want a cymbal that big anyway? is it just to amaze everyone with your humongous gear, so to speak?

flyguy

I have a 24" Zildjian Constantinople Light Ride. It's a beauty and I can get more sounds out of that ride then any other one I've ever played.

I can't imagine going any bigger than a 24 though. Seems to me, it would be based soley on the image portion of the drum set.

Cymbal companies will custom make cymbals to your exact specifications. Have you tried contacting any of these companies? I wouldn't be suprised if a 40" custom made ride was over $1000 though. If you have that much cash to spend on a cymbal....well damn.

The only big one I have seen is a 24" Zildjian Field Ride...

40"... is it really necessary to have it that big?

FullMoon
02-28-2006, 02:58 PM
40" would be bigger than your whole drumset

Zildjian and Sabian will make any cymbal 1" bigger (or smaller) then normal at the price of $100 per inch.

A Sabian 30" AA ride costs approx $800 more then the 22" ride.

Paiste makes an 80" gong. Wouldnt that be a nice addition to have behind the kit? The raw power of that would be incredibly ridiculous. I'd cringe....

So would they make a 2 inch ride?

0o0o0o... Zildjian doesn't have that cymbal on their site... nor does mass music. Ahmir uses it though. a Constantinople ride will be one of my next three cymbals ( 16 A EFX, 13 inch Remix Hats, and than that one. Where'd you pick it up ? Bet it costed a bitch too eh? )

Yeah. It was close to $500. I saved up for it for a long while. I actually called almost every music store in the country looking for it, and I was told it was discontinued every time.

After months of searching I called Columbus Percussion in Ohio and I was told that they had 2 of them on the floor. So I drove down to Columbus since it wasn't too far away and got to pick the one I wanted.

I love it.

I personally love the Constantinople Light Ride. You can't go wrong with it. It sounds good in all sizes. 20", 22", and 24". I would suggest checking it out.

my rule of thumb: never get a cymbal bigger than your main bass drum.

Yeah, and it's only €18,000.

PLUS tax.

That's a 6'8" gong. Imagine mounting that beast!

Thanks. Is the 24 worth the extra 200? or is the 22 just dandy as well?

That's hard to say...

Depends on your pleasure:cost. If you got the cash to just burn, then yes. If not, then no.

Think abotu it add 2" to an already awesome ride... or buy another ride.

The funny thing is, if it was a K, or HH, etc. you could cut off a few inches and save yourself some money for a darker sound.
