What the hell is firewire? I went to go buy a chord to get my cam-corder recordings onto my computer and they said that the only think it would take is a firewire chord, they didnt have a USB chord. So I bought I thought I'd check if I have a firewire spot on my comp, but I do not have one.

Is their really no USB chord for a cam-chorder or are the bastards at futureshop lying to me.

Get a firewire card....it's just a connection that a lot of digital cameras/camcorders use nowadays.

Well the firewire card will cost about $70.00, but how much is it gonna cost me to get it installed?

*squints* Why would you need to pay someone to install it? Just open up the computer and put it in the only slot on your mainboard it will go on (PCI). Close the computer back up, turn it on, and feed it the driver disc when it asks for it. If you're not comfortable doing that, you're *bound* to know someone that can just fit a PCI card. But don't go paying anyone money for it :)

Firewire is used on a lot of camcorders. You can buy cheap PCI cards from eBay. Personally I prefer FireWire to USB 2.0.

Install it yourself, it'll take 2 minutes and save you getting screwed over by some computer store.

Firewire actually has higher data transfer rates than USB too.

And don't spend $70 on one, when you can get new ones on eBay for a fraction the cost.

Rats!

do yuo mean usb too or usb2, cuz usb2 is faster than firewire but if u just wrote usb too and meant usb2 then urrong

TS: a firewire card shouldn't cost more than $20. it doesn't matter what brand you get. most of them use the same chipsets.
