alright, I like the band Bury Your Dead. On their last album all their songs were named after Tom Cruise movies and I wanted thoughts on each movie seeing as I haven't seen them all so here it goes, I'll make a list.
Top Gun
Vanilla Sky
Mission:Impossible-(who hasn't seen that)
Eyes Wide Shut
Magnolia
The Outsiders
Mission:Impossible-(seen that one too)
The Color Of Money
Risky Business
Legend
All The Right Moves
Losin' It
p.s. I may rent all of these movies so give good ratings or thoughts

Legend: If you like the fantasy movies of the 80's, this fits into that category. Interesting concept, but could've been done better. Tim Curry is in it. There's not a lot of speaking it it though. (As few words as possible it seems). But it does have that chick from Ferris Bueller..which was it's only plus. Tom is really young in this one.
Eyes Wide Shut: Lots of female nudity (but not hardcore sex romps). You get a great view of Nicole Kidman from behind. Otherwise, wouldn't watch it for Tom at all.
The Outsiders is a great. Sort of West Side story without the love. Two gangs. There's a fight, one character kills somebody, and him and the boy he defended go into hiding. Eventually the killer saves some kids from a burning place so he's sort of redeemed. Greatest part was Dillon's Character.
Didn't see Vanilla Sky but it's a Cameron Crowe film and that guy is pretty awesome. So it's probably worth it to give it a shot (he made Almost Famous, and wrote Fast Times, so all music lovers should appreciate him)

The only one from that list that I've seen is Eyes Wide Shut. I thought it was pretty good. Like Zandt said, there is lots of female nudity. It's really psychologically taxing, even though it isn't scary.
Where the hell is Collateral?

Vanilla Sky was pretty good.
Magnolia is brilliant, and Vanilla Sky is also pretty good, best two i've seen from the list.

I'm not a big fan of his.
The Color of Money is a good movie, though.

It really was a small role in The Outsiders. I had to go to IMDB to make sure it's true he was in it.
And like somebody else said: Collateral, despite not being on the list, is just amazing.

I really liked Minority Report.
The Last Samurai was ok, even if it was too maudlin and he was dangerously close to making out with Ken Watanabe

The Last Samurai, that's what I was thinking of. I've never seen Minority Report, I hear mixed things about it.
Speaking of the devil .... I'm watching MI:2 right now. lol

Top gun was an awesome movie. Sure there was some parts that people would deem homo-erotic, but the amount of Navy footage shot for that movie is incredible. You dont really see movies like this anymore.
(my dad worked for Northrop Grumman and on the F-14 tomcats as well as the B-2 stealth, so I may be a little biased, but I grew up with this sort of stuff so it holds a place in my heart)
I find it funny though that Days of Thunder is like a racing version of Top Gun.:thumb:
Also, the movie Born On the Fouth of July is a great movie about a true story of a vietnam war veteran who was paralyzed from the waste down. It's pretty grim in a lot of spots, especially when hes in the hospital.

^Yeah. I'm sure you have heard the reasons I don't like Top Gun from others. They are typical. I find it truly unwatchable. Although I can't fault the part of it that holds a place in your heart. The aircraft is truly impressive.
Born On The Fourth Of July is one of my favorite films ever. I read an archived article about it on the internet somewhere and this apparently was Cruise's true breakout role as an actor. So many doubters before it was even released. He was too handsome or clean cut or gay (wtf) or cute or didn't have the chops, his detractors said. But he nailed that role clean. I still think it's one of his better performances. (might actually be his best) and he was worthy of an Oscar. That film packs so much emotional weight I can barely watch it. Truly great and overwhelming filmaking by Stone and an unreal performance by Cruise. Simply devestating.

I don't really like the films that Cruise has been in apart from Minority Report.
Plus all the stupid crap he's done since marrying Katie Homes makes him seem like a twat :)

Eyes Wide Shut: very good (beacause of Kubrick not Cruise, really).
Magnolia: very good. Cruise play's one of many intensely interesting characters.
Rain Man: also very good

Vanilla Sky - Good film with a ****e ending.
Mission:Impossible - meh
Eyes Wide Shut - Haven't seen it, but it's Kubrick so obviously worth seeing
Magnolia - Best film made in the last 10 years
Also check out A Few Good Men for a decent Cruise performance and a phenomenal performance from Jack Nicholson. Collateral is also a solid film.

Liked many of his movies, but he's just such a hilarious retard when it comes to all that Scientology bull**** that he babbles on about.

What the hell? Has noone else read this sentence? Who names an entire CD after Tom Cruise movies? Going by the name I'm assuming the band is made up of males.. and that sounds pretty gay.

Yeah, I actually got a chance to go up in a F-14 back in 1998 in the navigator's seat. Such a cool experience. It's a shame that they are retiring the F-14.
Anyway, Ron Kovic is from Long Island and thats where I live. I think they said Massapequa is where he lived? Thats also where jerry seinfeld went to high school.:thumb:
