Anyone here a fan of graphic novels? I personally love them. Yesterday I picked up the original History of Violence GP, and it's been great so far.

Sin City is a great noir story and has very fitting art for it.
V for Vendetta is a great story with a cool protagonist.
The Walking Dead is probably the greatest zombie tale ever. It goes further into details than most zombie-related stories but is very enthralling.
There's so many good ones (but I'm mostly doing comics that have TPBs as well):
Watchmen
Preacher
The Punisher
Astro City

I've been meaning to check out V for Vendetta mainly because when I first heard about the story it sounded cool, and the movie looks cool even though I'm sure it'll butcher the graphic novel as do most movie translations.

I may pick that up, but I really don't like the artist's style.

I love to read, but I have never read a GN. I only heard about GNs after I saw Sin City, which was a great movie.
Anyone want to recommend one that I should read? I don't want to read any of the Sin City ones because I'd rather watch them.

I can't believe I forgot Kingdom Come. Alex Ross is an amazing artist and is with a lot of great titles, most chiefly among them his Earth/Universe/Paradise-X series which was fantastic, and shouldn't be missed.

watchmen is the closest thing to 'real' novels that comics have ever come close to;

though it did feature quite alot of prose, between the chapters.
I personally prefer V for Vendetta, hence the avatar

I'd disagree. Or at least to the extent that a lot of other comics have reached the same stature of respect as art. But Watchmen is great and all that.
The last thing I read was David Boring by Daniel Clowes. It was appropriately kinda boring, slightly kinky but mostly ok. As always when one of these threads pop up, I recommend Neil Gaiman's Sandman series. It's available in easily consumable TPB collections of each story arc. Yay.

I used to read Spawn but got out of it since it didn't interest me anymore. Last ones I read were Battle royal.
