it was a basic school fair with a new 'arts show' this year. the music club i'm in was supposed to just improvise for a whole hour in front of an audience. it's 5 minutes before we're supposed to start and both guitarists just showed up- one even without a guitar- and we find out we have to borrow someone's guitar and amp because the guitarist forgot to bring his own guitar+amp. so we get out there only to find out that we have to wait another half hour because the stupid little 4th and 6th grade dancer girls kept going on forever after they were supposed to stop. then we get out there and start playing and right at the end of our 3rd 'song' we're told to get off the stage for this guitar club with 4 guitarists, bass, and a drummer. when the bassist gets out there, he asks if he could use my amp even though i saw him using one earlier. being in a good mood i let him. he then plugs in his pedal and it practically blows my amp with feedback. i tell him it's the pedal and offer to let him use mine which had the same effect as he was going to use, but he said no. then all they play is metallica for 45 minutes with every song but the last one done terribly, considering the bassist couldn't keep a beat at all. then at the end they get so much applause even though everyone could tell they sucked.

oh man, thats gota stink, least year at our schools battle of the band we were the only grade 9's everyone else was grade 11 and 12 and well we did really well we ended up tying for 2nd place with this emo band, it was so horrendus because I dont wana be cocky but we reallly reallly played very well like it was amazing my music teacher even came up to me after and complimented the band (he normally really dislikes me) anyways yeah so then this emo band came on and played like after we did and they were on there for wayyy over thier alloted time and like they sucked, they had this cello solo thier friend came onto the stage and they miced his cello and still no one could hear it but they played on!! and when they left everyone was so happy they cheerd and the judges thought they liked them <_< it was soo bad and yeah we tied em for 2nd place we lost to a grade 12 death metal band...they owned so bad it was amazing but yeah no shame in loosing to the best but yeah

This is why I don't let people use my amp...I've had a guitar halfstack and a bass combo blown out by stupid people, at that point you should have just told him he can't use it because he wasn't respecting your property.

man i know what you mean. when i played the variety show at my school i let people use my amp since im the only one at my school with decent gear. this one kid whose band was playing blink, plugs into my amp and i dont know how but he created an insane amout of feedback. i ran up on the stage and started freaking on him. my friends thought i was going to smack him... trust me i wanted to.

I let my amp be used for this local gig once (right when i got it...wanted it to be tested) and I had my eq perfect. I am a tone freak. Someone touched my eq...I cried because I had to spend like 2 days fixing it.

My amp is at a friend's house, and I'm nerve racked...

A few weeks ago we had a battle of the bands (i didnt play, just help set up) and some crappy little screaming band came on, all with ****ty gear. They proceeded to scream for about a minute, then the singer started throwing the mic (the venues, not his) around, denting the **** out of it, and the guitarist and bassist started kicking random **** on the floor, including effects pedals, a marshall half stack, the P.A., and whatever else they could try and break their guitars on.

Being 6"2, and 13 stone, along with 2 other guys about the same build as me, and them being about 5"2 and very scrawny, we proceeded to kick them out. Old school style :D. Me and one of the guys yanked the guitarist + bassist from the stage and carried them to the door (where the owner of the half stack + pedals was) whilst the other guy just screamed at the singer about what the hell he thought he was doing. The singer then started crying and we removed him too. Harsh i know, but we dont like dicks who dont respect other peoples equipment.

That was a fun night :thumb:

we had another band night there on friday too, but it was far less eventful

those twatty kids have been banned from there, and the bands there range from boring to relativly ok. The band that were the best had an awesome rig (despite this being their first gig). They all had wireless things, the guitarist had a 2 and a half grand Mesa head and a marshall half stack. The bassist had an MM stringray and an ashdown Evo II (or whatever it was) along with the matching 4x10. not sure what the other guitarist had.

Either way, i felt it was a little unessersary to have wireless kits when the stage gave them a whole 3 foot of manuvering space between them and their amps. Still, very good for a first gig.

we had a battle of the band at our school like a month ago and there was one band that played three originals and were insane and another band that was horrible just played a bunch of songs that everyone. Of course everyone voted for the band who played all the popular songs and they won and the band who played originals came second.
