I thought that the Arctic Monkeys winning 3 NME awards was a wee bit over the top (but then again it was the NME awards) just wondered what anyone else thought about that or any of the other awards

Arctic Monkeys winning comes as no surprise. NME has been going crazy about this band for a while now. But it makes me feel bad for Bloc Party considering they were the "it" band before Arctic Monkeys showed up. But I hate Bloc Party too, so whatever.

Yeah but the thing is everyone slags off the NME ,rightfully for plugging bands like Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs and Franz, but when they finally get it right no one realises

What did they get right?

It's funny because the NME give out "Worst..." awards too.

I'm American, so I rarely bother to read NME. What specific awards did the Arctic Monkey's win?

Personally, I really like their album. Also, on a side note, they should change their name to something less dull.

I guess it's time to change this to the "Arctic Monkeys Forum."

Yeah well I rather prefer NME's stuff to the mainstream pop-punk that we have here in the states.

i like bloc party...and arctic monkeys...but ive never read NME. As if they were gonna lose, NME said theyre album is the 5th greatest British release ever.

Wern't Babyshambles up for Best new album and worst band? NME is a joke.

Best thing is, the guys don't even give a **** about NME. They were destroying their awards, and are fed up with the hype NME are giving them. They even say themselves "don't believe the hype". I think they know they aren't the greatest band to walk the earth, as NME like to put them.

Pete Doherty was voted Sexiest Man.

I was more concerned with Ian Brown apparently being given a God-Like Genius Award?

nme have killed the arctic monkeys career. everyone thought the album was gunna be an album full of "i bet you look good on the dancefloor"s (as that was a pretty darn good song). but it wasnt, that song hardly fits into the album. when people realise that they rnt what the nme have hyped them up to be, theyr gunna crash. the second album will die on its feet, and theyll break up soon after and all end up in rehab...
the nme awards were rigged, nme just wants to make money they dont care about the truth of new music...

and anyone who disses franz ferdinand should learn to enjoy dancing to music and actually listen to the albums (rocknrollstar5)

As Alex Turner the NME aren't exactly gonna build em up and then not give best band. Anyway I though their acceptance speeches were quite funny and as for the Sugar Babes peformance of I bet you look good on the dancefloor :amaze:

Being the token Libs fan, I quite like them, Carl is a far superior man to Peter and that Alex Turner dickhead. I'll be buying the album, though, I'll admit the songs arn't anything special.

I like Kaiser Chiefs and Franz Ferdinand. They're not my favourite bands, but I like them. Does that make me a sad wanker?

Piss off i've got both Franz Ferdinand albums, i've listened to both and think they have 4 maybe 5 good songs. Thats it, and as for being best live act, fook me. But then i dont listen to music to make me want to dance so there you go.

i think Bloc Party is just a bad idea in general. whats the point of even BEING black if youre just going to have a British accent, and sing music like that?! TV On The Radio stays true at least

You act like he wanted to be black and nobody can help their accent anyway, I'd rather they sand in a british accent than in a fake american one like oh I dunno the Lostprohets say.
But Bloc Party still suck IMO

Franz are a good band, Kaisers, well are a bit of a joke but there harmless enough there musics ok but nothing good just ok

I picked up Arctic Monkeys today, hoping all the songs would be as good as 'When the Sun Goes Down'. . .

They arent all that good, but I'd be lying if I said there werent a few pretty good tracks.

I saw Franz live at the Big Day Out, their show was up there. They put on a decent live show, I thought.
