Just the other day, I decided that it was high time that I learn Cult of Personality, or another great song by Living Colour. Anyway, I downloaded a tab for Guitar Pro and set to work. After about half an hour of practicing, I pretty much had the main section memorized (the part that plays throughout and goes, "Duh-nuh-nuh-nuh-NUH! Duh-nuh-nuh-nuh-NUH!" and has several other variations as the song plays), but I noticed that when playing it, I left quite a few strings ringing, to the point of really making the song sound like crap.

e|---------------------------------------------------------------|
B|---------------------------------------------------------------|
G|---------------------------------------------------------------|
D|---3p0-----2-----3p0-----2-----3p0-----2-----3p0-----2-2-------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------|
E|-3------3-----3-------3-----3------3-----3-------3-------------|

That's basically the main part, and I leave the strings ringing when going from the 2 on the D string back to the 3 on the E string.

I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for keeping the noisy little buggers silent while I try to make something that comes to resemble music. :)

thats wrong

D|----3-----2-----3-------2-----3------2-----3-----2-2-------|
A|------5-----------5-------------5------------5------------------|
E|-3------3-----3-------3-----3------3-----3-----3-------

thats the correct way and should fix your problem

Ah, excellent! Thank you, sir. You are indeed a king among men.

Just out've curiosity, is it even possible to play the song cleanly the way that I was trying?
