*Please note*
This isn't a beginner SOLOS thread. I don't want to have the californication/smells like teen spirit solo recommended to me.
**Please also note**
I don't want people trying to up their post count by coming in here insulting shred, if you wanna debate shred VS feel, make another thread.
Now... Could you guys post up some good beginner speed metal to learn? Dragonforce are awesome, but I can't play that good, so anything in that style but easier is welcome. Also if you have any good exercises for speed, or know of any sites other than mysongbook with good guitar pro resources, plz post.

Get a copy of Troy Stetina's Speed Mechanics for Lead Guitar, has a lot of good exercises for developing speed riffs, also read the text, Troy has a lot of good suggestions for a guitar player, my book and Cd copy was $18 but I have had the book a few years.

There's a reason for that ;)
I'd just be copying and pasting otherwise... what's the point?

Also, if you are into neo-classical stuff Joe Stump's instructional dvd's are very good.

If you are interested in learning intense shred guitar, check out "Speed Mechanics for Lead Guitar" by Troy Stetina. His books are great! Check them out at www.stetina.com
Good Luck.

Metallica solos. As old and tired as they are they're good learning material.
3 note per string scales, this is a little powertab with some 3 notes per string licks that I practise every day.

3 notes per string, my exerise basically covers all/most 3 notes per string things (well can make licks out of it yourself of course) 1-2-4 shape starting with downstroke, 1-2-4 shape starting with upstroke, 1-3-4 shape starting with downstroke, 1-3-4 shape starting with upstroke, and all shape backwards. And the same with 1-2-4-2-1 and 1-3-4-3-1, start out slowly and only go faster if you can handle it without going sloppy.
