Right now I'm using a Fender MIM P Bass with seymour duncan bassline pickups and a badass II bridge. It's my only bass and I need a reliable backup bass just in case. My funds are really limited, but I was looking at the SX jazz basses. Can anyone give me some heads up on these or suggest something more reliable that won't put a huge dent in my funds. Thanks!

Oy...Cort whore.
Anyway, I really like the SX basses, (I have a P-Bass myself) and I use it as a backup for my Rickenbacker. I like the way it plays and you can actually get a lot of good tones out of it. I haven't tried the J-basses but I'm sure they're just as good. And for the price, you can't beat them.

ebe - A cort cant do anything :-P i like them too.. but i think if someones gonna have a back up, it should be able to produce a similar tone to the 'head' bass... cort =/ P bass..... well, dependin on the cort.. im not real familare with their low end stuff.. only the curbows and artisans...
Lemonley - Those are UK based if i remember right.......... he is in US...
Perhaps a Peavey Fury or Ibanez GSR?..

id say a low end peavey, theyre underrated. im unsure on the model name, but they have a great clear tone and for £220 youve got a solid backup.

I'm more interested in either a SX or Squier Jazz bass as a backup. Any feedback? Thanks again.

I'd say Ibanez... IMO I don't love Ibanez's, but they do have a really good feel and even cheapies seem reliable enough. That's probably the safest bet considering LTD's are Russian Roullete buys, and Squiers just feel downright nasty

OLPs are the cheapest and most reliable basses for beginners. They're built by Musicman and Spector, so you know they are built with quality. They're awesome basses. :thumb:

True.. Got the 5-string as my first 5'er, and it's excellent in it's price range...
But the factory setup sucks..
