What songs would you put on a CD of greatest basslines? I'm going to make myself a CD of songs that have great basslines, and need ideas. I have Chromatic Fantasy, Ytse Jam (well, I like it), My Generation and things like that, but I need more. Well, I admit they're not the greatest basslines, but I intend to learn them all and then marvel at how great I am. So what songs would you suggest? I don't care if they're just a few bars repeated over and over, as long as it's a good bassline.

Yea get some ska in there. Catch22, Spunge, Streetlight Manifesto, Reel Big Fish. Not hard basslines but definately good, and they play a huge role in the music.

Behold...the Arctopus- You Will Be Reincarnated As An Imperial Attack Space Turtle (part 1)
Although I must admit, they don't have a bassist, so much as a guy who plays a 12 string instrument that happens to go into lower registers.
And yeah, Streetlight Manifesto and Mu330, get some ska on there.

My God, that is some weird music there. It sounds like Dream Theater on acid.
Thanks for all the suggestions, people.

 Alan Mian was falling about as well, so bloody funny. When I played it solo at a party on saturday I did my own wee things on the bass to make up for the weird bits, like a wee it of a Bach Violin Partita and I did some yodelling, there was a lot of bass players so at least some people go the joke. We were all wrecked as well. :p
