mapexdrums.com ;)
Which ever one you get, Mapex makes high quality shi*
Thin, 5.8mm, all North American maple shells = Pro M
Construction: 6-ply [5 birch, maple exterior]
Shell Thickness: 7.2mm= M Birch.
Birch sounds different than Maple, try em out at your local store ( well a birch and a maple one really, doesn't matter which, well it does, but ehh.

for the first part. there is no M birch, the M stands for maple. theres either the M, the Pro M, or the birch, and i believe theres a pro birch now...or someit like that.
birch is punchier, with more beef, while maple is warmer and fuller, the shells arent the only thing that affect your sound either, look into bearing edges, heads, rims, etc etc. figure out what sound you would like the most out of all the combinations. dont waste money on something if it doesnt blow you away.

The only difference, as stated before, is that the M Birch is a birch kit and the M Maple is, obviously, an all maple kit. Either one will be a fantastic upgrade and both are great kits. If you can try them out because the tone of the drums will differ between maple and birch, but to the untrained ear it can be hard to tell :thumb:

Yeah, The M Birch is quite possibly the Best kit out there for the Price, next to Pro M lol.

definatly both sick kits, u won't go wrong. i'd try them both first, or atleast compare a maple kit to a birch kit and see which u like. but i looked on the mapex site the other day and it doesn' have the M any more, it just has the M Birch, did they discontinue it, or was it just never on their list of kits on the site in the first place?

Yeah the M in Pro M and M birch comes from the older Mars series. Used to be Mars and Mars Pro, though neither was all Maple or all Birch. Great kits, you couldn't go wrong with either. Play 'em and let your ears decide.

^ooohhh my drum teacher has 2 mars series kits set up at lessons, i get to play them, they are good, even though they have stock heads on them. but if they aren't all 1 wood, i bet Ms and M Birchs sound tons better

I have an M Birch. Love it.
Try them both out, they're both great, but it all depends on what sound you're after. So there's not much we can help you with unless you go and hear them for yourself.

:lo: I was just about to make this thread.
Ive played an M but never an M Birch, the thing that put me off about the M is that its been discontinued so people would be like, why did you buy a really old kit when the new one is out?
Anyone know where I can see all the finishes on the kit? On the Mapex website, it only shows you a handfull of the actual kit.
