View Full Version : Hoes In Yo' Toes
I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote the title, but yeah. I've been playing drums alot lately... for about 3 - 7 hours a day with my new found band. And then I started to feel a bit of a tingle on my left big toe. So after the song was over I checked it and it turned out that the Iron Cobras metal logo was peeling away my skin. It actually went pretty damned deep and bleeding quite a bit. So I was wondering, I want to continue playing barefooted... but I don't want to see the bone of my big toe anytime soon. So Is there anything I could wrap it up in that wouldn't come off from all the movement and or sweat when I play? I tried Hospital tape, Duct tape and Scotch tape, but they all slid off leading to more blood and more skin missing. Any suggestions?
Oh... I heard the bassist from the the Chili Peppers saying that when he was playing... he wore a hole in his thumb and he had somebody go out there and put Krazy Glue in it so he could keep playing. It sounded really... ummm... not healthy to do that, but you guys think it'd be worth trying?

Hm how big is the patch of skin that's been scraped off? You could try putting a normal bandaid on the patch then wrapping tape over the bandaid
Do you prefer playing barefoot just for the feel or do you think you play better/more comfortably? I started playing with my grinch slippers and they are ridiculously comfortable :p

I was just thinking that :amaze: . I like the idea of wearing those grinch slippers :thumb: . But you should wear one of those thick socks. With tape wrapped around ur toe to protect it more. Just an idea that poped into my head
:chug: good luck

Yup ^^^ play with socks and shoes! That sound like there's something wrong with either the pedal or your playing if that's happening.

But the pedal shouldn't scrape off your skin. I play barefoot all the time and never get hurt

yeah... it is the letters. But I hate wearing socks. My feet slide all up and down the pedal. That's why I play barefooted.
So how 'bout that Krazy Glue thing? Anything?

Promark has those things that go on your pedals, groove peddlers or something. google them. or just superglue a shoe inner sole to your pedal.

Take a thick piece of cloth and wrap it around the logos of the pedals.
Tape it there, and it's solved.
Instrument polishing cloths work well.

def the groove peddler thing by promark
Did anybody hear that I don't wear shoes when I play drums? I can't feel the pedal when I have socks and or shoes on. So socks and shoes are out of the question. I was just looking for something that wont slip off like duct tape, scotch tape or hospital tape when I play.
And nothing comes out of Pro mark or Google when I type in Groove Peddler.
For the sake of science and drumming... I'm doin' the Krazy Glue thing. Just to try it out. I'll tell you all how it went after the glue comes off or if it just fails miseraby for drumming.

Dammit... We're out of Crazy Glue.

Put a strip of Dr. Scholl's moleskin on the offending part of the pedal. Make sure you get the adhesive backed kind-it'll just stick right on there. You can get it at any drug store or Wal-Mart.

Play with socks. If you don't want your feet sliding around, get those socks that have rubberish grippy things on the bottom.
Oh, just read you don't want socks... I think everything else has pretty much been covered.

I can't heel-toe properly unless I wear socks.
But, man, you can always just get pedal with less of a logo... or you could wear socks.
Or get drumming shoes.

i've heard of using super glue on cuts a couple of times. on the show trucks he recommended using it if you get cut in the shop and don't have anything else. i wouldn't recommend it and it's certianly not a permenant fix.
you're better off buying that new skin stuff. it's bassically a medical version of crazy glue, expcept you can't bond anything with it. never used it myself, but friends say it works great. just apply it to a cut or patch of raw skin and it seals it up
